A Snapshot of Your Day

The Technical Operations Tooling Engineer will ensure Siemens Energy field service personnel have the tools they need efficiently packaged when they arrive at a job site. A tooling engineer designs, tests, and optimizes secure and cost-effective packaging solutions for transporting products safely. They blend engineering principles with material science to ensure durability and sustainability while complying with industry standards. Their role involves packaging kits, creating specifications, and collaborating with production teams.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Design & Development: Utilizing CAD (computer-aided design) tools to create packaging solutions.
  • Testing & Validation: Evaluating packaging durability against shipping stresses and environmental factors.
  • Cost Optimization: Analyzing materials and designs to reduce field service costs and tool depot inspection costs.
  • Production Integration: Selecting packaging equipment, working with fabricators, and writing specifications.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field or 2 years of technical field experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 3-5 years of working experience in mechanical or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and 3D modeling.
  • Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently in addition to working well in groups.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing work for yourself and others, under strict timelines and being flexible to changing needs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and excellent technical writing skills. Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and ability to learn others as needed)
  • Travel 20-30% (mostly during outage season).
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
