Job Description:

Caterpillar Logistics Inc. seeks Packaging Engineer at its facility located at 1720 W Kingsbury St., Seguin, TX 78155.

Address packaging issues (500 annually) from Operations, Supply Chain and Quality groups at Caterpillar for safety of transportation of Caterpillar parts and machines to dealers and stakeholders. Establish packaging and processing specifications at the part number level for new product introductions, cost savings, or other supply chain improvement. Communicate with existing facilities on packaging issues related to receiving, warehousing, and/or line side delivery. Perform cost analysis on current packaging processes and recommend changes where appropriate. Lead low risk Green Belt projects. Perform activities to ensure parts are protected, shipped, and delivered to the customer in a usable fashion. Design and develop packaging solutions to protect finished painted components and for transport efficiency. Perform containerization analysis, testing, and quoting. Validate new packaging and containers during pilot phase. Coordinate with operations for storage and ergonomic considerations. Develop kitting packaging. Validate returnable quantities through simulations. Resolve safety and quality issues caused by current packaging. Resolve issues reported by customers and process partners. Develop communicating and maintaining supplier packaging requirements. Audit conformance to packaging specification. Joint Process Improvement with packaging vendors and purchasing. Create packaging concepts using 3D modeling software (i.e., Creo software by Siemens, Pack Assistant).

REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field plus Two (2) years of experience as an Industrial Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or related occupation in the field of Industrial Packaging. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Project Management related to packaging materials and supplies; (2) Creo design Software; (3) Pack assist; and (4) EPSA.

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location,job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
