JOB SUMMARY:Supports assigned customer and OEM technical needs including loading chart generation, new color application correlations, product recommendations, and customer /product problem solving. Responsible for product development, modifications, and improvements as required. Completes testing required for OEM and customer approvals. Establishes working relationships with Customer and OEM key contacts. Successfully commercializes new products, new program launches or product improvements. Utilize problem solving skills to troubleshoot testing failures. Assists Technical Manager to achieve group goals and department strategy.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:- Performs and implements the administration of lab operations.
- Completes formulation activities and standards with business strategies.
- Ensures that paint quality conforms to established product specifications.
- Writes and maintains reports documenting product development, evaluation of raw materials, supplier visits, and technical support, and presents reports to customer.
- Has direct customer responsibility for support needs with at minimum 50% of time being spent in the lab.
- Works with suppliers, customers or internal departments to review product requirements.
- Reviews and updates new formulas based on operational and customer demands and works with appropriate personnel to approve and implement changes.
- Addresses quality matters with other departments, locations and divisions, including senior management.
- Prepares monthly report, and manages group attendance, safety compliance, and other company programs.
- Establishes key customer contacts and builds business relationships.
- Travels to customer or OEM in support of new programs or new product launches.
- Utilizes knowledge of paint application to setup spray correlations.
- Assists with color development activity to ensure the design of new color formulations meets customer and internal expectations (as determined by Technical Manager).
- Supervise 3-10 Chemists.
- Prepare and deliver performance reviews for direct reports.
- Management of project priorities to complete tasks on time.
POSTION QUALIFICATIONS:- College degree in chemistry or other science field with 7 years relevant experience.
- Willing and able to travel and work overtime as required
- Strong work ethic, able to work well with minimal supervision
- Adapts well to priority shifts
