Technical Writer on the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program where you will work on the development of a sophisticated state-of-the-art avionics product in a world class Integrated Product Team Development environment.

This position does not support teleworking: The selected candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility in: Englewood or Littleton CO and be expected to work a flexible 9x80 schedule in the office full-time.
What does this role look like: The FBM Program is experiencing significant growth, and we need your expertise to deliver amazing new technologies to our customers while maintaining the technical requirements of the heritage strategic deterrence program. The Technical Writer II is an individual contributor on the LE2 - Tactical Avionics Management team. You will create original documents, manage creation of team documents compiled by many Subject Matter Experts and proof read and edit team generated documents.
Key activities you will accomplish in this role:
- Author original and derived content documents related to management, process, design and operation of flight avionics equipment
- Coordinate compilation and integration of team content into Integrated Product Team documents ensuring compliance with technical report requirements
- Proof read, edit and process documents for configuration control
- Work in an unclassified and classified environment and ensuring documents are properly marked for classification and compliance with program document marking.
To be effective in this role, you will need:
- Excellent written communication skills to ensure the documents meet intent of its purpose
- Good communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to peers, management, subcontractors and customers
- Attention to detail to ensure documents are free of grammatical errors, content is consistent throughout the entire document and that the formatting and classification markings comply with program requirements

Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials.
Basic Qualifications- Research, write, edit, and maintain technical documentation
- Proficient in the MS Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Excellent written and communication skills, with the ability to develop clear and concise reports, plans, and presentations
- A strong work ethic and ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment with excellent multitasking and organizational skills
- Excellent people skills and ability to communicate with our engineering community
- Working knowledge of military documentation standards and specifications
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required and you must be eligible to work in the U.S
Desired Skills- Associate degree or higher from an accredited college
- Experience with general engineering principles and practices; specifically Electrical, Mechical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering
- Experience working with US Navy submarine systems, including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronics/electrical/mechanical equipment, with knowledge of principles, systems, and procedures
- Able to work effectively in a diverse team environment
- Certification in any field related to writing and/or computer office software tools
- Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $67400.00 - $125200.00

- Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
