Position Category: Product Lines - Well Construction & Completions

Reports to: Sr Director, Talent Management

Location: 2000, St James Place (onsite)

This role is responsible for developing technical talent within assigned Product Lines across all regions. This role ensures alignment between business objectives, operational capability, and workforce readiness. The position is responsible for building and maintaining career pathways, supporting the development and delivery of training content and competency frameworks for field operations and other job functions.

Responsibilities

Technical Development
  • Owns and drives technical development strategy and execution across the Well Construction and Completions (WCC) segment.
  • Designs, implements, and continuously enhances structured career paths, learning plans, and competency frameworks; ensures global adoption and governance.
  • Defines and enforces qualification, certification, and recertification standards, including role requirements, proficiency levels, and assessment criteria.
  • Standardizes internal and external training programs aligned with industry standards, operational needs, and commercial objectives.
  • Leads SMEs in content development and defines delivery strategies using CBT, ILT, simulations, AI-enabled tools, OJT, and blended learning models.
  • Develops and positions customer-facing training solutions, translating internal capability into commercial offerings.
  • Aligns with commercial, operations, and Product Line leadership to support business opportunities and customer requirements.
  • Ensures quality, consistency, and brand alignment in all customer training delivery.
  • Oversees global training deployment, including scheduling, resources, facilities, and regional validation.
  • Drives adoption of digital and AI-enabled training solutions to improve scalability, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Embeds competency processes within operations and ensure compliance through audits and performance reviews.
  • Enables Multi-Skill and cross-functional workforce models to support operational flexibility.


Communication
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships within HR, Operations, and segment leadership.
  • Clearly Communicates expectations and influences stakeholders on talent and development needs.


Financial
  • Manages training budgets to ensure cost-effective delivery and measurable ROI.
  • Provides analysis and forecasting to support investment decisions in training programs.


People & Development
  • Leads and develops segment trainers and content developers, ensuring capability growth and delivery excellence.


Vision & Leadership
  • Provides strategic leadership aligned with business priorities and workforce transformation.
  • Drives enterprise-wide skill development initiatives and scalable solutions.
  • Champions digital and AI-driven innovation in training content, delivery, and assessment.


Qualifications

REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience within WCC Product Lines.
  • Minimum 4 years of training experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of managing people.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into scalable development strategies.
  • Experience leading SMEs and ensuring alignment with business, quality, and industry standards.
  • Proven delivery in complex, global, matrix environments.
  • Strong expertise in competency frameworks, skill matrices, and career progression models.
  • Strong knowledge of qualification, certification, and recertification systems.
  • Advanced project and program management capability for large-scale initiatives.
  • Proven ability to digitize and scale technical content using AI-enabled solutions.
  • Experience operating within multinational and matrix organizations.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, including executives.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills.
  • Solid commercial acumen to align training with business growth and client needs.
  • Knowledge of external standards (e.g., IADC, API, OPITO, ISO).
  • Experience building partnerships with industry bodies, vendors, and service providers.
  • Strong data and analytics skills for dashboards, performance metrics, and predictive workforce modelling.


PREFERRED
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications in Learning & Development, Competency Management, or Organizational Development.
  • Experience in large-scale competency and career path design and implementation.
  • Global experience preferred.
