Job Description:

Location Overview

Cboe Global Markets operates a key office in the Overland Park Xchange (OPx), located in Overland Park, Kansas, a bustling suburb of Kansas City. The OPx business park is strategically positioned to provide convenient access to the Kansas City metropolitan area, offering modern infrastructure and a collaborative environment ideal for the financial services and technology industries. This location benefits from proximity to major highways, making it easily accessible for employees.

The OPx site provides a balance of high-quality office space, advanced facilities, and an environment conducive to productivity and growth.

Role Overview

Cboe Global Markets is building the next generation of its technical content capability - and the Associate Technical Content Engineer is a foundational member of that effort. This role sits at the intersection of structured authoring, technical communication, and AI-assisted content delivery, producing the notices, specifications, and documentation that market participants around the world rely on to operate effectively.

The Associate Technical Content Engineer will utilize DITA content management systems and AI/automation tooling to create, organize, and deliver technical content - including Trade Desk notices, technical specification updates, and internal operational documents - in support of the Global Operations department. This is an opportunity to shape how one of the world’s largest exchange operators communicates technical change to global market participants, with real tools, real stakes, and a team actively investing in AI-driven content workflows.

You will be expected to take a process engineering-first approach to this role, supported by your supervisor and peers in day-to-day responsibilities, with clear pathways for growth as the Technical Content Development function expands.

Major Job Duties

Technical Content Creation and Delivery: Under supervision from Technical Content staff, draft and publish technical content including public trade desk notices and technical specifications. Incorporate edits from Operations, Engineering, Legal, and Business teams; obtain all necessary pre-publication approvals; and utilize content systems to maximize the efficiency, reliability, and timeliness of delivery.

Structured Authoring and Content Systems (DITA/CCMS): Design structured, topic-based content using DITA, incorporating content reuse and metadata as appropriate. Maintain strict version control and branching, optimize taxonomy, and troubleshoot invalid XML to ensure content integrity across the CCMS.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Technical Discovery: Analyze project requirement documents and work with multiple internal teams - including Operations, Engineering, and Compliance - to gather the technical information required to prepare or update internal and external documentation. Serve as a reliable content partner across disciplines.

Documentation Standards and Quality Control: Review pre-publication documents to ensure continuity of content style per defined corporate documentation standards. Uphold accuracy, consistency, and clarity across all content types, with strong attention to detail throughout the review and approval lifecycle.

AI-Assisted Workflows and Process Improvement: Actively incorporate AI and automation tooling into content creation and delivery workflows to improve efficiency and scalability. Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve turnaround times, and enhance the overall quality of the content delivery process. Contribute ideas and iterate on approaches with a continuous improvement mindset.

Procedures and Knowledge Management: Maintain operational runbooks, content architecture documentation, and knowledge base articles in support of the Technical Content Development team. Contribute to internal process documentation and onboarding materials as the function grows.

The Ideal Candidate Has

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Technical Writing/Communications, English, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Project Management, Business, Financial Services, or a related discipline.

Area of Expertise and/or Skills:

Skill

0-2 Years of Technical Writing Required

Experience in the following areas required:

  • Technical writing, content engineering, or structured authoring
  • DITA or structured authoring methodology (e.g., CCMS)

 Additional Requirements

Communication Excellence: Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a proven ability to write in both explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences - from market participants to internal operations teams. The ability to distill technically complex information into clear, accurate, and accessible content is essential.

Structured Content Mindset: Working knowledge of content reuse and metadata concepts; the ability to think about content as structured, modular components rather than standalone documents. Candidates who have experience with topic-based authoring and single-sourcing strategies will stand out.

AI and Automation Fluency: Experience applying AI-assisted content generation tools and reviewing AI output for accuracy and style compliance is a meaningful differentiator. Cboe’s Technical Content Development team is actively building AI-augmented workflows, and candidates with a genuine builder mindset in this space will have an immediate impact.

Financial Services or Exchange Operations Context: Familiarity with financial markets, exchange operations, or highly regulated technology environments is a strong plus. Candidates who bring an understanding of how market participants consume and rely on technical documentation - or who demonstrate a genuine interest in developing that context - will stand out.

Process Improvement Orientation: A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and the customer experience. Prior experience in a workflow engineering, process documentation, or operational improvement capacity is valued.

Attention to Detail and Quality: Strong attention to detail, especially in managing version control, accuracy, and consistency across a high volume of technical content artifacts in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
