We are looking for a seasoned Technical Business Analyst with strong business analysis and stakeholder management capabilities to act as the bridge between business teams and data engineering organizations.
Work Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Work Mode: Hybrid (2-3 days/week in office)
Salary Range: $100K/Yr - $120K/Yr Base + Annual Bonus

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and interpret complex Impala SQL queries written by business stakeholders and translate them into clear business requirements and agile user stories for the Spark development team.
- Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions with business clients to surface data needs, KPIs, and reporting goals.
- Partner with Spark engineers throughout development to ensure delivered solutions match original business intent.
- Lead analytics processes across multiple business units, determining the optimal analytical approach for each problem.
- Consult with clients on BI tool strategy, data quality, and analytical solution development.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Must-Have Technical Skills
- Proficiency in reading and decomposing complex Impala SQL queries into business requirements and user stories.
- Working knowledge of Apache Spark architecture and processing model 6 sufficient to write development-ready stories for a Spark engineering team.
- Strong experience in user stories creation and business requirements documentation.
- Solid understanding of data integration principles and data quality best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business stakeholder needs into precise technical requirements for engineering teams.
- Proficiency with agile tooling such as Jira for sprint and backlog management.
- 5+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or a related data-focused role.
Good to Have
- Hands-on experience writing PySpark or Spark SQL.
- Hands-on experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Hadoop, data lake, or lakehouse platforms (Delta Lake, Iceberg, or similar).
- Experience with statistical modeling or advanced analytical techniques.
- Background in data modernization or platform migration programs.
- Prior consulting or client-facing professional services experience.
- Domain experience in banking or financial services.
