Full Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Team Lead to serve as both an onsite technical expert and team supervisor within a classified work environment. The Team Lead will manage a team of engineers within a specific technical discipline, support their development, and act as a primary point of contact (POC) for customers. This role combines hands-on engineering work with project and personnel leadership responsibilities.

Core Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Technical Oversight:
  • Manage a team of 4-6 engineers within a designated discipline.
  • Act as the technical reviewer for team deliverables; contribute to technical work where required.
  • Serve as the first-line technical resource for your team and coordinate with specialists for cross-discipline support.
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable engineering culture focused on quality and innovation.

Customer Engagement:
  • Serve as the primary POC for customer interactions related to your technical area.
  • Maintain and strengthen existing customer relationships.
  • Proactively engage with new and existing customers to understand technical needs and ensure alignment with team capabilities and resource planning.

Project Management:
  • Develop technical project quotes and estimates.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Track and report on project health, risks, and progress to leadership and customers.
  • Lead final technical reviews and ensure quality and timely delivery of all customer deliverables.
  • Create and maintain closure documentation for completed projects.

People Management:
  • Conduct performance evaluations, support career development, and manage professional growth plans.
  • Oversee direct reports' timekeeping, administrative needs, and compliance with internal processes.
  • Support onboarding of new team members to Quest Defense and customer systems.
  • Enforce compliance with customer site policies (e.g., security, facility rules, dress code).
  • Help create a positive and inclusive culture aligned with the House of Quest values, including organizing engagement events and team-building activities.

Site Innovation & Process Improvement:
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve team performance, workflows, and customer value.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure hiring aligns with current and future workload demands.
  • Participate in candidate interviews and selection processes.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in the aerospace or defense industry (military aircraft experience preferred).
  • 4+ years of experience in personnel management or team supervision.
  • 2+ years of project management experience, including budgeting and scheduling.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage cross-functional projects.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, classified, or highly regulated environments.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
  • Mostly Office Environments, Occasional Shop Floor involvement.
  • Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work.
  • Heavily Regulated Industries with strict adherence to procedures.
  • Flexibility to meet business deadlines by staying late or arriving early.
  • Typical 8 hour days plus lunch / 40 hour weeks / core (required) hours are 9AM to 4PM
  • Ability to use personal transportation to visit customer locations.
  • Travel expected up to 25% for customer visits and managing teams at other sites
  • US Citizen with ability to get DoD secret clearance is required due to nature of work

Pay Ranges

$95,000-$110,000 USD
