JMM is seeking a Tax, Trusts & Estates Paralegal to join our team in Century City. This role will assist attorneys with estate planning, trust and estate administration, and related tax and transactional matters. The ideal candidate takes ownership of their work and can manage multiple matters independently in a fast-paced environment while communicating clearly with attorneys and clients.
Essential Duties
- Assist with all aspects of post-death trust administration, including the preparation of
notices, assessor forms, subtrust documents, asset allocation and transfer documents,
and other related filings. - Assist with trust funding and the transfer of assets, including real property, business
interests, and financial accounts. - Prepare deeds and other documents related to the transfer of real estate and other assets.
- Review trust and probate accountings.
- Review and prepare federal estate and gift tax returns (Forms 706 and 709).
- Prepare and handle Heggstad Petitions and other Trust Petitions for filing with Probate
Court from start to finish. - Prepare and handle Probates from start to finish.
- Prepare and file California Form BOE-100-B for legal entities.
- Draft estate planning documents including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers
of attorney, and ancillary documents. - Apply your organizational skills and attention to detail to retrieve, review, and maintain
client and matter files. - Conduct legal and factual research related to assigned matters.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Tax, Trusts & Estates Paralegal at a law firm.
- Four-year college degree or equivalent.
- ABA approved paralegal certificate.
Position: Non-Exempt
Location: Century City. 5 days onsite for the first 30 days, then 4 days per week onsite, 1 day
remote thereafter.
Salary: $120k - $150k base
