Job DescriptionJob Summary:Public Storage is seeking a highly motivated Tax Manager to support the Income Tax Team in the preparation, review, and management of corporate, partnership, and REIT-related tax compliance. This role requires strong technical expertise across multiple entity types, including corporations and partnerships within a REIT structure, along with experience in federal and multi-state tax filings.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing compliance processes, resolving complex tax issues, and driving efficiencies through the use of tax technology in a dynamic, high-volume tax environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Multi-Entity Tax Compliance: Responsible for federal and multi-state tax compliance and filings for corporate and partnership entities, including REIT-related structures.
- Tax Research & Issue Resolution: Identify, research, and resolve federal and state tax issues, with a focus on real estate, corporate consolidation, and partnership taxation matters.
- Fixed Assets & Transactional Analysis: Review and analyze fixed assets, including like-kind exchanges and Tangible Property Regulations, using Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets tools.
- State Apportionment: Manage and review state apportionment calculations and processes utilizing OneSource Apportionment.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as a liaison between the accounting department and external tax preparers to support and substantiate tax computations.
- Tax Notices, Audits & Controversy: Manage federal and state tax notices, audits, and communications with taxing authorities, including resolution of tax controversies.
- Tax Planning & Special Projects: Support tax planning initiatives, restructuring activities, and other strategic tax-related projects.
- Third-Party & Compliance Coordination: Coordinate with external service providers to ensure timely completion of all required tax filings and reporting obligations.
- Team Development: Assist in developing and mentoring tax seniors and staff, contributing to team growth and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent
- 4-5+ years of relevant tax experience in Big 4, national CPA firms, and/or corporate tax departments
- CPA or CPA candidacy preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of corporate and partnership taxation; REIT experience is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to leverage tax technology tools to identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements
- Experience with OneSource (Income Tax, Provision, and/or Apportionment), GoSystem Tax RS, Alteryx, and Bloomberg (BNA) Fixed Assets preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication
Additional InformationCompensationBase Pay Range: $140,000 - $160,000
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of our total awards approach to compensation which is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses or incentives
