In the role of
Systems Engineering EIT/Designer, we'll count on you to:
• Support systems engineering activities across major rail and transit projects in North America and Canada.
• Assist with requirements management, interface coordination, verification & validation (V&V) and system integration tasks under guidance of senior systems engineers.
• Prepare and maintain system documentation, including requirements traceability matrices, interface control documents, and test procedures.
• Participate in design reviews, integration planning, and commissioning support activities.
• Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and processes as directed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of systems and subsystems.
• Perform site visits during design, construction, and testing phases as needed.
• Demonstrate an attitude and commitment to being an active participant in HDR's employee-owned culture.
Preferred Qualifications • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification.
• Familiarity with Python
• Exposure to rail or transit systems projects.
• Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, Cameo, Jama, etc.) and MBSE concepts.
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Prior internship or co-op experience in systems engineering or transportation projects.
• Knowledge of INCOSE systems engineering principles.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or related Engineering discipline.
• Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months. Candidate will be expected to receive their ASEP for career progression.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Local candidates preferred

QualificationsRequired Qualifications - Associate's degree in engineering or related field of study or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the discipline to be supported
- Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications specific to the discipline to be supported
- Knowledge of industry standards specific to the discipline being supported
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
