This position is for a senior member of a Skunk Works Systems Engineering team, where you will execute technical work across a portfolio of Skunk Works programs spanning concept development, design, integration, verification, and sustainment.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Systems Engineer Staff - Level 4, you will be responsible for driving technical solutions in mission systems applications across multiple programs within a portfolio spanning the product lifecycle. You will partner with program management, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure technical integrity, successful delivery and support of a Skunk Works advanced product. This role requires independent drive, minimal supervision, adaptability to evolving priorities, and the ability to lead tasks to successful completion while interfacing directly with customers and internal stakeholders. This position is full-time onsite in Palmdale, California with occasional travel to government customer, supplier, and other partner sites. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Executing technical projects through requirements development, decomposition, tracking, and verification
  • Conducting risk analysis, developing mitigation plans, and ensuring program deliverables are met
  • Developing supplier technical specifications, managing technical execution, and ensuring integration success of supported products
  • Providing system and subsystem integration and test support to complete verification of requirements
  • Applying Earned Value Measurement Systems (EVMS) principles to assigned technical responsibilities to meet program objectives

Standard Description

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that perform IT responsibilities, use E646, Systems Engr-IT.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above from an accredited university in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or other related engineering degrees.
  • Experience with requirements development, decomposition, tracking, and verification using DOORS or other similar requirements management tools.
  • Experience with system integration and test planning, execution, and data analysis


Desired Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in customer interactions
  • Ability to work with different engineering disciplines and suppliers to derive, decompose, and verify requirements
  • Experience driving complex projects to completion given high level objectives
  • Awareness of or experience with model based engineering principles and model based development environments.
  • Experience developing a system architecture
  • Knowledge of Agile SAFe methodology, managing workload in tools like Jira, Confluence, etc.
  • Experience with risk management and mitigation strategies
  • Experience with Mission Systems applications
  • Control Account Manager (CAM) experience and CAM-Certification.


Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00

The salary range for this position is as listed on the requisition. Please note that the salary information listed is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market(work location) and business considerations when extending an offer.

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
