DESE Research, Inc. is seeking a motivated and experienced Systems Engineer (SE) to work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to ensure the successful design and manufacturing of a missile seeker to meet the performance, reliability, and safety requirements of the seeker system. A successful candidate will be responsible for development and adherence of the requirements and the interfaces of a complex software system with the rest of the missile seeker.
The successful candidate will:
- Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
- Evaluate customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
- Perform various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
- Perform analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
- Develop, maintain, and identify improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
- Resolve cross-functional technical issues.
Position Key Responsibilities:- Ensure compliance with system requirements and specifications of the design and development of the software for the missile seeker.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers, to integrate the software into the overall missile seeker system.
- Define and document the software's architecture, interfaces, and operational characteristics.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and testing guidelines in the design and implementation of the software.
- Designs or develops, maintains, and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
- Support test plans and procedure development to verify the functionality and performance of the software system.
- Support the troubleshooting and resolution of any technical issues or anomalies related to the software during development, integration, manufacturing, and testing phases.
- Collaborate with project managers to establish project schedules, milestones, and deliverables related to the software.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in gimbal assembly technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to enhance the performance and capabilities of our missile seeker system.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate of Science degree in a related Technical Field (i.e. engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics)
- System engineering experience (2+ years) including software test, architecture, and interface development and definition and requirement derivation
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to missile seeker systems
- Security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required, depending on the nature of the project.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in design and development of software for missile seekers or similar precision tracking systems
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques for electronic assemblies, including PCB design and fabrication.
- Proficiency in using engineering software tools for modeling, simulation, and analysis (e.g., CAD, FEA, MATLAB, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems and troubleshoot technical issues.
Typical Education/Experience:
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
