About the Role Shamrock is looking for a Systems Engineer II with the ability and drive to maintain both on-premises and public cloud systems infrastructure components. The ideal candidate will have an automation-first mindset, strong customer service skills, the capability to learn new skills quickly, and the ability to work across other areas as needed. The ability to handle change and the propensity for knowledge gathering and sharing is necessary.
What You'll Do - Serves as an escalation point for Support Services to resolve Systems tickets in Jira.
- Assist the team in deploying and proactively maintaining cloud, on-premises systems and related technologies using Infrastructure-as-Code principles to ensure maximum uptime and security.
- Perform troubleshooting to resolve escalated technical issues of affected equipment.
- Work effectively with other teams within the Technology department and 3rd party vendors.
- Take part in technical project planning and ensure milestones/tasks are completed on time.
- Provide peer review for change requests ensuring they meet our technical standards.
- Efficiently prioritize triage issues; perform root cause analysis.
- Take the initiative to improve our operations and stay educated on the latest relevant technologies.
- Implement automations to improve engineer and end-user efficiency.
- Consistently follow organizational policies, such as access, change, incident, and problem management.
- Take part in the development of technical processes and documentation.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and be onsite as needed.
What You'll Bring - BA/BS degree in a technical field or evidence of exceptional ability.
- 3+ years of experience working with Windows Server operating systems.
- 3+ years of experience in Active Directory administration and troubleshooting.
- 3+ years of experience working in a production datacenter.
- 1+ years of experience deploying and administering production systems in AWS.
- 1+ years of experience with Linux operating systems.
- Proven production experience with VMWare patching and administration.
- Proven Production experience working within systems monitoring solutions.
- Ability to automate tasks via PowerShell.
- Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
- Must possess a passion for technology and take initiative to stay educated on the latest and most relevant technologies and methodologies.
- Must possess initiative and analytical skills to resolve issues before they become critical.
- Must possess strong people skills and the ability to work as a team member, collaborating and partnering with team members to address issues.
- Must be self-motivated, able to respond quickly when on-call, and willing to work outside the core area.
What Will Set You Apart - Production experience with Nutanix.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
- Experience with Git.
