Standard Job DescriptionYou will be the Systems Engineer for the Skunk Works Systems Engineering team which is responsible for executing technical work across a portfolio of Skunk Works programs.
What You Will Be DoingAs a Systems Engineer - Level 2, you will be responsible for contributing to technical solutions in mission systems applications across multiple programs within a Skunk Works portfolio spanning the product lifecycle. You will work both independently and as part of an integrated, cross-functional team, successfully meeting assigned deadlines across a variety of assignments while effectively communicating with technical leads to proactively elevate issues when encountered. You are an emerging specialist in systems engineering, prepared to think creatively to solve complex problems, adapting to evolving priorities, and frequently interfacing with internal stakeholders and senior engineering leadership. This position is full-time onsite in Palmdale, California with occasional travel to government customer, supplier, and other partner sites.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Executing technical projects through requirements development, decomposition, tracking, and verification
- Shaping and/or developing analysis tools to support evaluation of system performance requirements
- Providing system and subsystem integration and test support to complete verification of requirements
- Supporting system data analysis, evaluating requirements compliance and developing verification artifacts
- Developing systems architectures and conducting system design trade studies
- Conducting systems engineering lifecycle management activities

Standard Description:Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that perform IT responsibilities, use E646, Systems Engr-IT.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or above from an accredited university in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or other related engineering degrees.
- Experience with requirements development, decomposition, tracking, and verification using DOORS or other similar requirements management tools.
- Familiarity with data analysis, engineering tool development, and processing of large data sets
- Secret security clearance required prior to start
Desired Skills- Ability to work with a cross-functional team to derive, decompose, and verify requirements
- Experience contributing technical deliverables to complex projects
- Awareness of or experience with model based engineering principles and model based development environments.
- Familiarity with Agile SAFe methodology, managing workload in tools like Jira, Confluence, Github, Bitbucket
- Experience developing software and/or data analysis tools in Matlab, Python, C#, C++, or other programming languages
- Experience with technical writing, process development, technical procedures, and other formal documentation and reports
- Familiarity with data analytics and statistics in data processing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with senior internal technical leadership
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00
