Summary

The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, maintenance, and support of enterprise infrastructure, including servers, network systems, cloud services, virtualization platforms, and cybersecurity technologies. This role ensures the reliability, performance, scalability, and security of the organization's IT environment while supporting business initiatives and technology modernization efforts.

The IT Systems Engineer works closely with internal stakeholders, vendors, and IT team members to deliver highly available and secure technology solutions across corporate offices, data centers, remote locations, and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Systems Administration

  • Administer and maintain Windows Server and support infrastructure.
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, and print services.
  • Support virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere and Hyper-V.
  • Manage server lifecycle activities, including deployment, patching, upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Maintain storage systems, backup solutions, and disaster recovery processes.


Network Support

  • Support LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, switching, routing, and firewall technologies.
  • Assist with troubleshooting network connectivity and performance issues.
  • Collaborate with network engineering teams on infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain network documentation and standards.


Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls and best practices.
  • Participate in incident response and remediation activities.


Monitoring & Operational Support

  • Use monitoring and alerting tools to proactively identify infrastructure issues.
  • Participate in on-call support rotations and after-hours maintenance activities.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain infrastructure performance metrics and system health reporting.


Project Implementation & Collaboration

  • Lead or participate in infrastructure modernization projects.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and business units.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and procedures.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and technical guidance to other IT team members.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimal three years of experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration and Microsoft technologies.
  • Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience troubleshooting infrastructure, networking, and security issues.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of networking technologies including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell or Python.
  • Experience supporting multi-site enterprise environments.


Preferred Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)


Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to travel occasionally between office locations and data centers.
  • Ability to lift and install IT equipment when necessary.
  • Availability for after-hours maintenance windows and emergency support activities.
  • Participation in an on-call support rotation.
