Full Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer (VDI)in Newington, VA to support a mission-critical Department of Defense customer. This position will serve as a senior engineer responsible for the design, administration, optimization, and security of a large-scale Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise with Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon), VMware vSphere, endpoint management, automation, and secure enterprise desktop solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build, update, test, and deploy VDI master images and desktop pools
  • Manage thin-client devices and endpoint configurations using enterprise management platforms
  • Support profile management solutions to provide a seamless and reliable end-user experience
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell automation scripts to improve operational efficiency
  • Perform pre-production testing and validation of VDI image updates, patches, configuration changes, and monitor VDI performance
  • Ensure VDI environments comply with DoD security requirements, including DISA STIG implementation
  • Collaborate with systems, network, cybersecurity, and customer teams to support mission objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience supporting Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon) hosted on VMware vSphere

  • Familiarity with DISA STIG compliance requirements
  • Experience with VDI monitoring and performance management tools

Work Location:
  • On-site in Newington, VA
  • Less than 10% travel required

Compensations:

Salary Range: Up to $175,000 depending on experience

Comprehensive Benefits: Holiday/PTO Pay/benefits
