In this role, you will:
- Solve straightforward technical problems using technology solutions composed of smaller or stand-alone components and processes
- Deliver logical, maintainable solutions that use appropriate technologies and are delivered on time
- Learn current engineering best practices and incorporate feedback to improve your work
- Participate in your team's design, scoping, and prioritization discussions to understand business goals and customer needs
- Take responsibility for the systems you inherit and produce, applying principles of operational excellence
- Troubleshoot issues, research root causes, and thoroughly resolve defects
- Help train and mentor interns, and potentially participate in the hiring process
Key job responsibilities
As a Systems Development Engineer I on our team, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing and delivering technology solutions that solve straightforward technical problems, such as developing small tools and applications
- Ensuring your solutions are well-tested, maintainable, and optimized to meet the team's needs
- Identifying risks and making appropriate technical trade-offs in your designs
- Working both independently and collaboratively with your team to complete projects successfully
- Continuously learning and applying current engineering best practices to improve the quality and maintainability of your work
- Troubleshooting issues, researching root causes, and thoroughly resolving defects in the systems you own
- Participating in design, operations, and post-incident reviews to identify risks and help improve the resilience of your team's systems
- Providing useful feedback and input when reviewing designs and implementations submitted by others
- Helping to train and mentor new team members, including interns

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Knowledge of best practices for software deployment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
- Experience with iterative, agile development methodologies (including scrum)
- Knowledge of cloud services such as AWS or equivalent
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
