Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring Systems Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Design a complete and complex framework, system or product. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Under supervision, exercise limited judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree requiredMaster's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: One (1) year of experience in job offered or closely related engineering role.
Specific skills required: The following skills are required:Position requires experience in the following:
- Designing system or SoC architecture;
- Test case development;
- Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL;
- RTL design and coding;
- ASIC design and ASIC design tools (synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, and static timing analysis);
- EDA or CAD tools; and
- C, C++, or Python.
Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, assistantship, or internship experience.
