Job Description

Engineering Technical Services (ETS) at the Fulton Schools of Engineering is seeking an Application Systems Analyst Sr. to support FSE enterprise infrastructure, platform engineering, endpoint management, identity, and automation services.

This position is ideal for a hands-on technology professional who enjoys building solutions, improving operations through automation, and supporting modernization efforts across on-premises and cloud environments.

The Application Systems Analyst Sr. serves as a senior technical contributor responsible for administering, automating, documenting, and improving technical platforms and operational workflows that support research, teaching, student success, and service delivery.

This role combines hands-on systems administration with automation-first practices, emphasizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD-enabled change processes, Power Platform automation, ServiceNow-integrated workflows, and repeatable frameworks for access, configuration, deployment, monitoring, reporting, and lifecycle management.

Essential Duties

System Administration & Service Operations

  • Support and enhance the Windows, Linux, cloud, and infrastructure platforms that power critical services across the Fulton Schools of Engineering.

  • Manage the lifecycle of infrastructure, platforms and systems across on-premises and cloud environments to ensure reliability, security, and long-term sustainability.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize services to maintain a high-quality user experience and operational performance.

  • Contribute to operational practices that support resilience, compliance, and continuous improvement.

  • Participate in infrastructure planning, maintenance, upgrades and modernization initiatives that support the evolving needs of the organization.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Design and implement automation solutions using scripting, APIs, Infrastructure as Code, workflow technologies, and AI-assisted tools to improve efficiency, consistency, scalability, and service quality.

  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual effort, and improve service delivery through automation and standardization.

  • Develop sustainable, well-documented solutions that can be supported across the organization.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative approaches that improve operational effectiveness and the user experience.

  • Partner with colleagues to modernize technology services, streamline operations, and deliver measurable improvements.

Deployment, Frameworks & Change Implementation

  • Participate in CI/CD and structured deployment practices to test, review, and release infrastructure, configuration, automation, and application-support changes.

  • Support repeatable frameworks for provisioning, configuration, deployment, monitoring, reporting, and lifecycle management of technical services.

  • Help maintain validation, peer review, documentation, and controlled-release standards that reduce configuration drift and improve operational supportability.

Endpoint, Identity & Service Management

  • Support and enhance endpoint management, identity, and access services that enable secure and reliable technology operations.

  • Implement standards and practices that improve device management, security, compliance, and user experience.

  • Automate and improve onboarding, access management, reporting, ServiceNow-connected workflows, and service delivery processes.

  • Develop operational dashboards, reports, Microsoft 365 and Power Platform workflows, and workflow solutions that increase visibility and support decision-making.

Collaboration & Service Excellence

  • Participate in the planning, testing, deployment, and support of technology enhancements and operational improvements.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge bases, runbooks, and operational resources that support knowledge sharing, self-service capabilities, AI-enabled services, version-controlled change workflows, and long-term supportability.

  • Partner with technical and business stakeholders to solve problems and deliver meaningful outcomes.

  • Contribute to service continuity, operational readiness, security initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience administering Windows and Linux server environments across physical, virtualized, and cloud-hosted platforms.

  • Experience supporting AWS, Azure, Hyper-V, and physical datacenter-hosted workloads.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.

  • Experience participating in CI/CD workflows for infrastructure, configuration, automation, or application support.

  • Experience with PowerShell, automation scripting, APIs, webhooks, JSON, and workflow automation tools.

  • Experience with SCCM, Intune, Autopilot, endpoint configuration baselines, operating system deployment, application deployment, and endpoint reporting.

  • Experience with Active Directory administration, Group Policy, security groups, delegation, access automation, and identity-integrated services.

  • Experience building Microsoft 365 or Power Platform workflows.

  • Experience developing reports from ServiceNow, Microsoft 365, SCCM, Intune, JAMF, Active Directory, or monitoring platforms.

  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development, automation or operational support tools.

  • Experience supporting monitoring, backup, vulnerability response, incident response, compliance, documentation, and operational assurance processes.

  • Familiarity with ServiceNow-integrated workflows, event-driven automation, and operational service management.

  • Ability to document technical processes, maintain supportable automation, and work within version-controlled or peer-reviewed workflows.
