What You Will Do: At Independent Software, as a Systems Engineer Level 4, you will support the full lifecycle of enterprise infrastructure solutions across mission-critical environments, including design, development, integration, modernization, deployment, operations, and sustainment.
In this role, you will use Python, Docker, and containerization technologies to automate processes, deploy scalable solutions, and improve system reliability and operational efficiency. You will work closely with Government stakeholders and technical teams to solve complex engineering challenges and deliver secure, high-quality solutions supporting mission objectives.
Key Responsibilities:- Support systems engineering activities throughout the full lifecycle, including requirements, design, integration, testing, deployment, operations, and maintenance
- Develop and maintain Python-based automation tools, scripts, and engineering solutions
- Deploy and maintain containerized applications and services using Docker
- Integrate, configure, troubleshoot, and sustain containerized solutions in Linux environments
- Automate system deployment, configuration, monitoring, and operational processes
- Analyze system performance and troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Recommend solutions that improve scalability, reliability, performance, and operational efficiency
- Support modernization of enterprise and mission infrastructure
- Collaborate with Government stakeholders and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and document solutions
Required Skills and Qualifications: - Strong Systems Engineering experience supporting enterprise or mission systems
- Experience developing or maintaining automation solutions using Python
- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized applications
- Strong Linux experience
- Experience integrating, configuring, troubleshooting, and sustaining enterprise infrastructure
- Experience automating system deployment, configuration, or operational processes
- Understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle from requirements through operations and sustainment
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms
- Experience developing or maintaining CI/CD pipelines for containerized applications
- Familiarity with Git/GitLab, Jenkins, Ansible, or similar DevSecOps and automation tools
- Experience with REST APIs, Python-based GUI frameworks, dashboards, or data visualization tools
- Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM) integration, configuration management, and software/container dependency management
Education and Experience:Candidates must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline plus a minimum of ten (10) years of systems and/or software engineering experience
- Candidates without a bachelor's degree may be considered with an additional four (4) years of relevant experience
- A master's degree may count toward the experience requirement
Clearance Requirement: - Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
