We are seeking a detail-oriented Switchgear Design Project Engineer to support our Switchgear Engineering team. This role is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining technical drawings and documentation for low- and medium-voltage switchgear systems. The ideal candidate has strong drafting skills, a solid understanding of electrical design principles, and experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain 2D and 3D CAD drawings for switchgear assemblies, wiring diagrams, and layouts
Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and design requirements into accurate technical drawings
Have a technical understanding of circuit design and electrical component functionality. Select project electrical components based on the project specific design requirements and company design standards.
Select new parts as required and suggest new parts based on maintaining state-of-the-art awareness of relevant product technologies.
Collaborate with electrical engineers and project teams to ensure design accuracy and compliance
Update drawings based on engineering changes and revision control processes
Generate bills of materials (BOMs) and assist with documentation packages
Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, codes, and company guidelines
Support manufacturing and production teams by providing clear and accurate design documentation
Assist in troubleshooting design issues and implementing improvements
Work on special projects as dictated by the needs of the department.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field
2+ years of CAD drafting experience, preferably in electrical or switchgear design
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, CREO, Promise, SEE Electrical, or similar)
Familiarity with electrical schematics, control wiring, and power distribution systems
Understanding of low- and medium-voltage switchgear is strongly preferred
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Skills
Experience with panel layout and enclosure design
Knowledge of industry standards (UL, ANSI, IEEE, NEC)
Familiarity with PLM or document control systems
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
