Full Job Description

On Location is seeking a proven executive to lead, develop, and grow its Music business as Vice President, General Manager. This is a senior leadership role with full P&L ownership, responsible for defining and executing the strategy across all four pillars of On Location's music portfolio: touring event hospitality, festival services, owned and operated events, and rightholder events.

The VP, General Manager will serve as the senior-most music executive within On Location, leading a business unit with its own distinct identity, commercial strategy, and P&L. This leader sets the direction for Music — not as a service function to the broader business, but as a fully-formed vertical with its own clients, rightholder relationships, and growth targets.

At the same time, On Location is a portfolio business, and its most significant opportunities increasingly sit at the intersection of verticals. This leader will be a genuine collaborator — proactively seeking out joint pursuits, co-creating with peer GMs, and bringing Music's expertise and relationships to bear across the broader On Location portfolio. The expectation is not simply openness to collaboration, but active investment in it: building relationships internally, identifying cross-business opportunities before they are obvious, and helping shape how On Location goes to market as a unified organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Own and drive the overall strategic direction of the On Location Music business across all four pillars
  • Set annual and multi-year objectives for revenue, profitability, and portfolio growth
  • Partner with On Location leadership to align Music strategy with company-wide priorities
  • Represent Music externally at the senior level with rights holders, agency partners, promoters, and industry stakeholders

P&L Ownership & Business Performance

  • Hold full P&L accountability for the Music business unit
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, revenue forecasts, and margin targets
  • Identify opportunities to improve unit economics and drive profitability across product lines
  • Establish KPIs and reporting cadences to monitor business performance and inform decisions
  • Where music is a component of a broader On Location opportunity, engage commercially with clarity — contributing to shared pursuits while protecting Music's own financial interests and ensuring appropriate attribution

Cross-Business Collaboration

  • Act as a proactive and invested partner across the On Location portfolio — not waiting to be brought in, but actively identifying where Music's expertise, relationships, and capabilities can strengthen a broader On Location pursuit
  • Co-develop opportunities with peer GMs where a rightholder relationship spans multiple verticals — for example, where a property like Studio 61 or an NCAA partnership has a meaningful music dimension — bringing clarity on scope, commercial structure, and Music's contribution from the outset
  • Serve as the internal authority on music across the organization: educate, advise, and advocate so that peer teams can recognize music opportunities and know when to bring the Music business to the table
  • Lead with a one-company mindset on joint pursuits — whether P&L sits with Music, with a peer business, or is shared — prioritizing the best outcome for On Location while ensuring Music's contribution and commercial interests are clearly defined
  • Build deep, trust-based relationships with peer GMs, functional leaders, and central operations teams; be known internally as a leader who makes joint work easier, not harder
  • Represent Music in cross-portfolio planning processes, ensuring the business is visible, well-positioned, and contributing to On Location's overall commercial strategy

Touring Event Hospitality

  • Lead commercial strategy for premium hospitality offerings across major touring artists and concerts
  • Build and manage relationships with promoters, venue operators, and artist management
  • Develop scalable, repeatable hospitality programs that deliver a consistent premium guest experience
  • Drive yield optimization across inventory, packaging, and pricing

Festival Services

  • Oversee On Location's festival services business, including official hospitality packages and on-site operations
  • Develop partnerships with festival organizers and property owners
  • Expand the portfolio of festival clients while protecting and growing existing accounts
  • Ensure operational quality and brand consistency across all festival activations

Owned & Operated Events

  • Define and execute a roadmap for On Location-owned music events where appropriate
  • Evaluate market opportunities, secure venues and talent, and manage full event P&L
  • Build a repeatable event production model that delivers strong margin and high guest satisfaction

Rightholder Events

  • Serve as On Location's senior relationship holder with music rights holders, governing bodies, and industry associations
  • Secure and renew official hospitality and experiential rights for major music properties
  • Develop compelling rights holder proposals and negotiate commercial terms
  • Ensure delivery standards and contract obligations are met across all rightsholder partnerships

People & Culture

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Music team across commercial, operational, and partnership functions
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence
  • Partner with People & Culture on organizational design, hiring, and talent development

Qualifications & Experience
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in live music, entertainment hospitality, or experiential events, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Demonstrated track record of P&L ownership and driving profitable revenue growth, including in matrixed or shared commercial environments
  • Deep relationships across the music industry — with promoters, festivals, rights holders, artist management, and/or venue operators
  • Experience leading and scaling a business unit, including budgeting, forecasting, and team development
  • A genuine collaborator who actively builds relationships across an organization, seeks out joint opportunities, and creates conditions for others to succeed alongside them
  • Proven track record of working effectively across business lines — co-developing opportunities, navigating shared P&L structures, and building internal credibility with peer leaders
  • Strong influencing skills and emotional intelligence; able to align stakeholders, resolve competing priorities, and move cross-functional work forward without direct authority
  • Strong commercial instincts with the ability to close complex, multi-stakeholder deals
  • Excellent executive communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate at pace in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment
  • Willingness to travel extensively; live music is a travel-intensive business
  • Experience building or launching owned and operated event concepts
  • Existing network across major touring, festival, and music rights ecosystems
  • Background in premium hospitality, sports-entertainment crossover, or rights-based businesses
  • Prior experience working within a portfolio company or multi-vertical organization, navigating shared resources and cross-business commercial structures
