The Survey Manager I is responsible for the coordination, implementation, execution, control, financial performance, and timely completion of projects, and the quality delivery of projects that are consistent with company strategies, commitments, and goals. This position wins new business or secures repeat business with established clients and manages all aspects of multiple projects using company project controls, available staff, and sub-consultant resources. This includes monitoring the budgetary health of the projects and providing a greater level of client care. The individual production and coordination efforts are reduced with the balance of the role being the actual management of the projects. This individual will develop their own client base through business development activities and a higher level of client care, developing long-standing, positive client relationships. The supervisory responsibilities include the training, development and mentoring of direct reports, and to assigned staff to responsible projects. This position maintains a broad view of project(s) and communicate this view through direct, ongoing communication with relevant staff, clients, and sub-consultants.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Acts in responsible charge of survey project deliverables, ensuring timely and quality delivery within budget
• Leads and executes projects from initiation through delivery by coordinating, supervising, and directing survey project team(s) and servicing and strengthening ongoing client relationships
• Assists in reviewing and negotiating contracts and contract amendments to manage and mitigate risks; analyzes and communicates risks and potential financial losses with supervisor
• Participates in proposal development and project interviews; learns how to lead project pursuits in coordination with the regional Business Development Manager
• Maintains and builds the company's reputation as preferred choice for survey services

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervises all aspects of assigned projects to maximize project profit while reducing risk
• Acts as the primary client contact for day-to-day project needs; services and nurtures the client relationship and easily renews contracts and new work with those clients
• Works with other internal service lines to smoothly coordinate large, multi-disciplinary projects
• Works in partnership with assigned project coordinator(s) on completing monthly billing responsibilities
• Stays abreast of service specific trends, technology, and innovations
• Supervises assigned survey staff members; provides training and mentorship to survey team members
• Maintains a visible presence in the Division; visits all offices with assigned staff on regular basis
• Participates in training, mentorship, and industry activities that contribute to the professional development of staff
• Provides input, suggestions, and recommendations for Division standards; develops best practices for the Survey Division
• Participates in proposal development and project interviews as a technical resource
• Acts as a member of the interview team to qualify/disqualify survey candidates; participates in wrap calls and selection of candidates
• Performs all other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
• PLS in state assignment or PLS in another state with the ability to obtain PLS in state of assignment within one year
• 10+ years of relevant and progressively responsible survey experience with a minimum of 2 years of Project Surveyor or equivalent experience
• Meets/exceeds the competencies of a Project Surveyor III
• Possesses demonstrated working knowledge and proficiency in the of the following competency areas: project management, communication, Land Surveying workflows, QA/QC, project deliverables, and relationship management
• Possesses advanced knowledge of:
o Survey processing software
o Survey calculations, principles, terms, and deliverables
o Survey regulations, laws, and boundary resolution
• Basic knowledge and application of effective business development and marketing practices
• Demonstrates a complete understanding of project requirements from inception to completion
• Possesses the ability to secure new or renewed work within established client relationships
• Ability work on multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities
• Ability to use sound judgement and follow Company standards and practices as it relates to safety
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities
• Possession of a valid driver's license; meets Company driver eligibility requirements
