Surety Broker

Role Type: New position

Do you enjoy building relationships in the construction industry, solving complex surety challenges, and leading high-impact client work? Are you energized by leading sophisticated indemnity structures, high-volume transactions, and detailed risk analysis? If so, you may be a great fit for our Surety Group in Toronto!

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This role is not eligible for sponsorship, and we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa or work permit.

The salary range for this position is $68,800- $93,870. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

What the day will look like

  • Review bids and prepare sunshine letters and surety bonds as needed
  • Prepare service requests to ensure invoices and other documents are issued accurately and on time
  • Prospect with team members and build a network within the construction industry
  • Support colleagues in servicing clients and prospects and set a positive example
  • Deliver excellent service to an existing Surety book of business
  • Work with colleagues in Toronto and other locations to provide top-tier construction advisory services and solutions
  • Identify client and prospect needs and develop efficient, innovative solutions
  • Ensure procedures, client files, and correspondence comply with Aon audit standards
  • Review and revise Surety facilities
  • Coordinate the account team and provide oversight, including client service plans that prioritize activities and profitability
  • Participate in industry events and committees to build visibility and connections
  • Demonstrate the value of collaboration and inclusion across all lines of business

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 3+ years of experience in Construction Surety Bonds preferred; open to candidates from Property and Casualty insurance
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with senior clients and colleagues
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, able to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • High attention to detail and commitment to thorough review of work
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Solid mathematical and analytical skills to support risk analysis and premium calculations
  • Ability to develop relationships with national and regional carriers in the Surety and P&C markets
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information clearly
  • Strong digital literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience creating client presentations
  • Ability to integrate AI tools into workflows
  • Commitment to compliance with Aon policies and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Willingness to obtain an active Property and Casualty license
