About the Trading track within the ST&S graduate program:
The Supply Trading & Shipping Graduate Development Program in the Chicago office supports the refining & products trading Americas (rptA) business. rptA is part of bp’s Supply Trading and Shipping organization, the commercial face to the traded markets in the Americas. ST&S is bp's face to the traded markets in oil, gas, power, chemicals, renewables and finance. ST&S's role is to improve bp Group value through distinctive supply, commodity trading, risk management and technology skills. This is underpinned by outstanding analytics, finance, control and compliance infrastructure. ST&S has a dynamic and highly skilled workforce, which builds value by combining analysis and commercial innovation with the material asset base of bp. The Trading Development Program (TDP) is structured to provide a broad overview and introduction to trading business, operational flows, and commercial strategy for a new employee. The TDP will spend three years in this role with rotations across commodities and disciplines gaining the vital skills and experience and providing a path to the Assessed Traders Course at the end of the program.
The areas of exposure can include, but are not limited to:
- Market analytics, physical operations, finance & risk, and chartering
- Ad hoc initiatives, analysis and/or projects supporting the trading bench’s operational footprint, trading strategy, or commercial outlook
- Assist with recruiting and development efforts
Minimum Requirements:
- Working toward Bachelor’s degree
- Graduating between December 2026 and May 2027
- Current Cumulative GPA Minimum 3.0
- Eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions (bp will not support U.S. Immigration sponsorship for full-time or long-term employment)
- Must be available to start on agreed upon global program start date (June 21, 2027).

- This role pays $85,000, based on the minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree
