Job Description (General Summary)

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Intralox L.L.C. has a position available for a Sourcing Category Manager (SCM). In this role the qualified individual will be a part of the Intralox Equipment Supply Chain Team in a hybrid role of technical and supply chain expert.

We are looking for someone who naturally finds their way into conversations that matter and proves they belong once there. This role calls for curiosity over ego: someone comfortable asking the "uncomfortable" question in a room full of experts, and determined enough to track down the right answer, wherever it hides. The right candidate is a pragmatic pioneer able to step into unfamiliar terrain, make sense of it quickly, and start sketching a better path forward with limited guidance that leads to decision making. They are energized by challenge , unafraid to stand alone when needed, and willing to deliver hard truths with clarity and purpose. They don't seek to make others uncomfortable by asking the hard questions, but they also don't flinch when the job calls for it, especially when efficiency, cost, or outcomes are on the line. They make decisions, own them, learn fast, and keep moving-because the idea of standing still (or eroding value) is far more uncomfortable than being wrong.

KEY ELEMENTS:
  • Act as the Category CEO.
  • Even though the SCM has no direct authority over others, the SCM should treat their category as if it is their own business. They must influence others and drive towards long term profitability always.
  • Look Around Corners
  • What could go wrong? How are you thinking now to either avoid the pitfalls of the future or put systems in place to ride through them?
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop long-term relationships that enable growth, innovation and customer acquisition.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of the global markets, technology and supplier landscape to inform decisions.
  • Drive supplier selection and specifications in line with Category Management Principles.
  • Resolve delivery, quality and technical challenges using root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Engineering, Production, Project Management, Commercial and Product Management teams to deliver optimal solutions.
  • Build and execute category strategies focused on the global optima that optimize cost, lead time, capacity and service.
  • Conduct performance reviews and align expectations, contracts and capabilities.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or Equivalent Experience
  • 5+ years of industry or function relevant experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to influence across all levels of an organization
  • Proven leadership, planning and team-building capabilities
  • Must be a self-managed individual who is a team player
  • Ability to deliver clear, impactful presentations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Willing/able to travel ~30% (domestic and international)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Category Management Experience
  • Industry experience in Mechanical Hardware
  • Demonstrated expertise in contract development, negotiation and execution
  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) System Familiarity
INTRALOX SOURCING CATEGORY MANAGER CULTURAL ATTRIBUTES:
  • Think Like an Owner. Take responsibility for driving results, even when doing so requires working beyond the traditional boundaries of the SCM role. Keep in mind, SCMs are not hired to simply manage categories, they are hired to deliver Intralox business objectives.
  • Seek to Understand with Vigor. Be Objective and Seek Truth. Do not take "no" as an answer until a law of physics has been identified. Be comfortable with making others uncomfortable as you do so.
  • Drill Deep to Understand Facts Firsthand.
  • Gain a depth of understanding that gives the ability to articulate and defend the specification of any component or design "accepted".
  • One Team; No "Us vs Them". Always seek the global optima. Only Intralox wins. There is no such thing as a win for Engineering, Supply Chain, Program Management, or any other internal team in isolation.
  • Push for what you believe
  • No Victim Mindset
  • Accept the final decision or leave
  • Understand What is Important and Why. Develop a sense for what is "Roughly Right."
  • Do not let perfect be the enemy of first and good enough.
  • Do Not Fear Failure. Hold the confidence necessary to make decisions with ambiguous information and take calculated risk. Have the resilience needed when the decision is wrong to learn, adapt and move forward without hesitation. Play to Win.
  • By Choice We Improve. Learn! Adapt through feedback, experimentation, and iteration. Be curious. Continuous improvement is a choice, make it.
Intralox's benefit program is a major part of an employee's total compensation from the company. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits including health, dental, vision, and disability insurance, paid time off, 401K, flexible spending account, life and AD&D insurance, long term care, tuition reimbursement, and additional voluntary benefits.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Intralox considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training and key skills. Therefore, we encourage all qualified applicants to apply regardless of their salary expectations.

The position is eligible for one of the following: commissions, discretionary incentives, or production incentives according to the terms of those plans.

Salary Range: $57,400 to $163,800
