Description
The Supplier Quality Engineer acts as the primary point of contact between the company and suppliers regarding the quality of purchased components, subassemblies and assemblies. The individual in this position works closely with Global Sourcing and Design Engineering to ensure quality requirements are communicated, understood and implemented at supplier locations. The ideal candidate also has strong industry-related knowledge and problem solving capabilities.
How You Will Help
• Effectively communicate the company's quality requirements to suppliers and act as the main point of contact with suppliers regarding quality issues.
• Operate in compliance with applicable regulations, guidelines and management expectations.
• Support new supplier and/or new product qualification.
• Perform on-site supplier quality audits (system, product, process, internal, etc.) as necessary, to ensure suppliers have implemented an appropriate quality management system to ensure all design, quality, and production requirements can be met.
• Develop test & inspection criteria for evaluation of field returns providing reports and resolution.
• Issue Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) as needed for product found nonconforming in inventory or as returned for warranty credit by customers.
• Effective evaluation of root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action.
• Collect data and compile appropriate KPI reports that show supplier quality trends and ultimately the effectiveness of the company's supplier quality program. (i.e.: COQ, PPM)
• Evaluation of statistical techniques used during problem solving and quality improvement activities.
• Interact with globally recognized independent product safety and regulatory organizations.
• Coordinate containment and resolution of product quarantines.
• Support the company's Mill/Material Test Report system for sourced suppliers.
• Prepare reports and presentations for suppliers and internal departments.
• Perform other Quality related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What You Will Bring
• Degree in Engineering and/or equivalent quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Teams, Sharepoint, Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, national and international standards.
• Prefer quality system auditing experience.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality systems.
• Knowledge of various manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, forging, metal stamping, assembly and test.
• Knowledge of product safety, regulatory and environmental organizations.
• Knowledge of quality related manufacturing systems.
• Knowledge of quality tools including: PPAP, SPC, Fishbone, 6-sigma, and others.
• Knowledge of quality auditing methods.
• Ability to travel 10-20% to conduct supplier evaluations and/or audits as required.
