Full Job Description
Industrial Engineer — Production Flow & Facility Optimization (Quonset Point)

Get closer to the product. Shape how submarines are built. Make an impact on America’s most advanced maritime programs.

The Quonset Point Work Center Master Planning & Readiness Team is seeking motivated Systems and Industrial Engineers who want to work directly within the heart of submarine construction. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-energy team responsible for optimizing how we build Virginia (VA) and Columbia (CLB) class submarines.

In this role, you’ll analyze, design, and improve the production environment itself — the facilities, work centers, spatial layout, equipment, and flow paths that drive submarine module construction. You’ll become a key advocate for Operations, helping ensure our production system is ready, efficient, and capable of meeting program demands.

What You’ll Do

  • Improve and optimize production flow throughout QP’s manufacturing areas.
  • Build and refine work center layouts, module locations, and equipment placement.
  • Analyze spatial requirements and ensure critical assets are sized and located for efficient submarine construction.

  • Lead and support projects that prepare the facility for future workload and new capabilities.
  • Apply Lean and systems engineering principles to identify conflicts, streamline processes, and implement improvements.

This role offers hands-on exposure to the physical build of submarines — ideal for engineers who want to see their work directly influence the product.

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.
