Your mission, roles and responsibilities

The Supplier Quality and Development Engineer (SQ&D) is responsible for ensuring the quality and development of potential and new suppliers, as well as existing suppliers that require improvements to their management system and performance results. The SQ&D Engineer also supports the Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer (SQA) as the first level in the escalation process.

  • Support supplier panel management: participate in supplier selection and evaluation; support supplier panel strategy; support APQP (development and mass production); support process and tooling development, including gauges; audit suppliers according to Faurecia and customer requirements; communicate Faurecia and customer requirements to suppliers.
  • Manage critical supplier issues: consolidate, at division level, a quality plan with the SQA to improve supplier performance; support Safety/Regulation and PF4 topics; ensure resolution of quality issues with suppliers in serial production; ensure implementation and progress of action plans; participate in supplier audits through the escalation process; validate supplier action plans through the escalation process; train purchasing and supplier quality teams in Group methodologies.
  • Supplier development: deploy continuous improvement plans to key suppliers including quality principles; support APQP for new/modified parts and tooling transfer activities during development and serial production when requested; ensure supplier compliance with mandatory rules; ensure Safety/Regulation certification in production; ensure innovative quality plans and follow-up with the most disruptive suppliers regarding quality and deliveries; promote improvements to supplier management systems; periodically visit suppliers for benchmarking activities.
  • Support purchasing processes: deploy purchasing policies at plant and commodity level; ensure implementation of progress plans; comply with applicable IATF 16949 requirements and responsibilities; ensure implementation of AIAG Core Tools requirements at suppliers; ensure implementation of the 8D problem-solving methodology at suppliers; mentor Supplier Quality Assurance Engineers (SQA) through leadership techniques such as recognition, feedback, coaching, and training.
