Summary

As an Supervisory Records and Information Management Specialist (Branch Chief), you will serve as subject matter expert in a variety of functions related to records and information management, management of information systems, data analysis and reporting, customer relations and process analysis.

  • Provides expert supervisory, technical, and administrative direction to a team of Analysts that are responsible for providing a variety of management services and guidance essential to the efficient and effective operations of USCIS.
  • Provides program oversight and administrative direction of the operations of the Records Program.
  • Serves as subject matter expert in a variety of functions related to Records and Information Management, management of information systems, data analysis and reporting, customer relations and process analysis.
  • Formulates policy, performs strategic analysis and planning, conducts program outreach, coordinates training, develops metrics and ensures compliance with Federal laws, regulations and guidance and advises management on any issues.
  • Uses broad data analysis to identify and resolve problems, investigate and determine innovative solutions to complex issues and prepares reports and/or presents recommendations.

Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas.

Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a twelve-month probationary period upon appointment to this position. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 07/31/2026.

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 07/31/2026.

GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the majority of the following duties:

  • Providing technical and administrative supervision to a staff of analysts engaged in programs administering records management.
  • Coordinating and directing records management activities and the accomplishment of difficult and diverse functions or issues related to records management.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Federal Records Act and accompanying regulations.
  • Establishing long-range work plans and determining the actions necessary to accomplish records program objectives.
