About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Supervisory General Engineer (NH-0801-04) to work at the 96 Test Wing, 96 Range Group, 782d Test Squadron (782 TS) at Eglin Air Force Base.
This position serves as the Chief Engineer for the 782d Test Squadron (782 TS) and serves as the designated technical authority for the squadron's highly complex test and evaluation (T&E) mission, with ultimate responsibility for the safe, efficient, and effective execution of all squadron test activities including climatic testing, installed systems testing, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and open air test activities. The position advises the Squadron Director/Commander on multidisciplinary engineering and scientific issues across a diverse testing portfolio, is the final technical approval authority for 782 TS testing programs, and exercises second-level supervisory and managerial authorities for a major T&E organization that directly impacts 96th Test Wing and Air Force Test Center strategic objectives.

Location: Fort Walton Beach, FL (Eglin Air Force Base)
Typical 2026 salary range: $125,776 - $179,482 per year (includes locality).

Must have requirements or may not be considered:
1. A professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution is highly desired. An advanced engineering degree, such as a Masters or a PhD is preferred.
2. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Chief Engineer as defined in AF and AFMC guidance.
3. This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). Work requires the appropriate APDP certification; i.e., Practitioner in an area such as Test & Evaluation (T&E) or Engineering & Technical Management (ETM)
4. This position is designated as a Critical Engineering Position and is managed under the criteria listed in AFMC guidance.
5. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
6. The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
7. Incumbent is required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and as necessary to meet regulatory guidance.
8. This is a Drug Testing Designated Position
Desired Skills:
4 years of DT or OT test execution, test planning, test support, test design, and test safety experience desired.
4 years of experience as a test conductor/test director, or test engineer is desired.
4 years of test program lead experience desired.
Major Duties:
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time.
- Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short/long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
- Plans, organizes, and oversees the engineering activities for the test and evaluation of multiple unique major ground test facilities including the McKinley Climatic Laboratory (MCL), the Guided Weapons Evaluation Facility (GWEF), the Joint Pre-flight Integration of Munitions and Electronic Systems (J-PRIMES), and the Portable Seeker/Sensor/Signature Evaluation Facility for the 782d Test Squadron.
- Serves as the Chief Engineer, exercising final authority in providing the engineering leadership, management, and technical direction required to support all assigned T&E programs.
- Performs work in the application of multiple engineering disciplines to support the design, development, procurement, production, testing, and evaluation of AF and DoD-level major systems with specialized T&E applications.
- Represents the 782d Test Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

Must be able to obtain and maintain the required level of Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification within 9 months of assigned duties.
