- Serves as the Executive Officer/Legal Advisor to the General Counsel (GC).
- Serves as a first-line supervisor for the Administrative Team, supervising multiple support staff. Assigns and reviews work, conducts performance appraisals for subordinates, and assists the GC and Principal Deputy General Counsel (PDGC).
- Develops guidelines for the formulation of office policies, plans, and programs to ensure the effective conduct of the mission and functions assigned to the OGC, to include management of OGC metrics and budget.
- Performs the full range of personnel duties associated with supervision such as performance management, leave approval, training, position management, time and attendance reporting, etc. for the OGC.
- Provides expert level legal advice to the GC on all areas of practice including acquisition, bankruptcy, debt collection, contract pay, admin and employment law, mil pay, retired and annuity pay, civ pay, and litigation.
- Confers with and counsels staff elements and chiefs of operating directorates and their representatives; represents OGC at meetings.
- Liaisons with other DoW agencies and DLSA on matters within their purview and as directed by the GC.

QualificationsGS-14 Qualifications: Assignments require the first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) and active membership in the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia. In addition, the attorney shall have professional legal experience in excess of 3 years that is commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position.
