Full Job Description
Kinder Morgan is seeking a Technical Services Supervisor located at 16648 Illinois Highway 82, Geneseo, IL 61254. The primary work location for this position is Geneseo, IL, however, other locations within Division 7 will be considered. Primary Purpose: • Provide leadership and effective management to a team of Engineering Technicians and Controls Specialists. • Provide technical guidance, problem resolution, design support, supervision for safe operation, maintenance, testing and repair of natural gas compressor facilities using internal combustion engines, turbine engines, and electric drive motors; including plant ancillary equipment, automation & controls, emissions regulation, and Greenhouse Gas reduction initiatives all in accordance with Company Standards. What You Will Do Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Supervise technicians in the analysis and review of equipment and facility performance identifying opportunities for improvement. • Lead and guide decision-making in regards to automation, electrical & instrumentation, PLC programming, and Wonderware HMI solutions and program enhancement and advancement. • Analyze equipment failures, lead in the root cause investigation, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence. • Provide guidance to the Division Operations Managers around plant equipment reliability and performance. • Provide leadership in budgeting, planning, executing, and forecasting projects for the area of responsibility. • Responsible for leading compliance efforts in environmental regulations (RICE MACT, Greenhouse Gas emissions, OOOOa/b/c, Title V, etc.). • Develop and/or approve management of change (MOC) requests for equipment modifications, additions and/or replacements. • Develop, participate, and/or review project scopes including but not limited to drawing reviews, engineering design reviews, and Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) for projects. • Coordinate with various company personnel, contractors, and operations to accomplish various assigned projects. • Work with Division Operations Managers to identify technical training needs for E&C Technicians and assist in the development and implementation of training programs. • Other related duties as assigned. What You Need Education Requirements: • High School diploma required. • Associate degree (or higher) with over five (5) years of commensurate experience with emphasis in compressor station or power plant operation and maintenance, project management, and/or plant automation is preferred. Experience and Knowledge: • Prior supervisory experience is preferred or a minimum of five (5) years maintenance experience with mechanical and pipeline systems, preferably related to engine analysis and equipment automation. • Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of natural gas compressor facilities focusing primarily on rotating equipment, controls, and facility systems. Types of equipment supported include equipment drivers (reciprocating gas engines, electric motors, and gas turbines) and compressors (reciprocating and centrifugal compressors) as well as ancillary support systems (i.e., engine cooling systems, lubrication systems, plant air & electrical systems, etc.). • A high level of understanding of plant control systems, engine and turbine fundamentals, exhaust emissions, and emissions testing requirements. • Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations including Greenhouse Gas rules and OOOOa/b/c. • Demonstrate performance and leadership toward operational excellence. • Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation control systems. • Experience in Allen-Bradley PLC programming and Wonderware HMI software is a plus. • Knowledge and experience in safe operating and handling of flammable gases and liquids as well as high pressure gas systems. • General knowledge of operating and maintenance procedures and practices as well as regulatory and tariff requirements. Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations: • A satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company and a current, valid State driver's license. Competencies, Skills, and Abilities: • Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work efficiently with minimal supervision. • Strong leadership skills and the ability to remotely supervise a highly technical staff spread out at multiple locations performing multiple tasks on a daily basis. • Must be self-motivated and able to perform the required and expected duties with little or no direct supervision. • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to established work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules. • Ability to manage a budget including tracking costs and forecasting. • Strong customer focus in dealing with internal customers (engineering, operations, and various corporate departments) as well external customers. • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and other diagrams. • Develop business cases in support of equipment modification, additions, and/or replacements. • Good math, reading, and computer skills (knowledge of MS Office applications is required; Adobe Acrobat, Maximo, SharePoint, and other computer applications are preferred). • Solid communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak and understand English. Physical Demands: • Must be able to withstand extreme or adverse weather conditions; may have to work outside in all environmental conditions periodically. • Must be able to: enter confined spaces; and climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways. • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and 50 pounds from floor to waist. Working Conditions: • Required to carry a company-provided cell phone, and be available to respond during working hours, and non-working hours as needed. • Must be available for responding to emergency situations 24/7. • Travel is required and anticipated up to 40%; this includes out-of-town nights, sometimes on short notice and on weekends. • Successful completion of background check and drug screen prior to hire as well as continuous participation in the Company DOT drug & alcohol testing program as required. Supervisory Responsibility: • This is a supervisory position. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This position may perform other duties as assigned. Pay Range USD $124,500.00 - USD $152,500.00 /Yr.
