Summary

The Supervisor (PSE) fosters an environment of construction execution excellence, as well as building a culture of providing solutions, not problems. They are responsible for the organization of the day-to-day activities on the job site. The Supervisor (PSE) will ensure that activities are being completed safely and efficiently all while upholding a strong dedication to quality. They will be proficient in all areas of substation construction. The Supervisor (PSE) works closely with the Construction, Project, and Fleet Managers to ensure that projects are profitable and delivered on time.

Qualifications

  • Certified Journeyperson in a PSE trade designation
  • Ground Disturbance (Level 2)
  • Certified in Leadership for Safety Excellence Training (LSE)
  • Formal Supervisor training is considered an asset
  • 4+ years experience as a Journeyperson involved in high voltage, electrical or distribution construction
  • 2+ years as a Construction Foreperson or equivalent position


Skills

  • Expert in electrical distribution systems: underground, overhead, substations, and streetlighting.
  • Solid understanding of Alberta utility codes and regulations.
  • Skilled in coaching and mentoring apprentices.
  • Proficient with computer software such as Excel, Word, and PDF editors.
  • Possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively while building strong relationships with colleagues and clients.

Duties

Leadership
  • Demonstrate and uphold core Iconic values

Operations

  • Conduct daily tailboard meetings and end-of-day closeouts with direct reports.
  • Provide daily progress reports to clients, Iconic Construction, and Project Managers.
  • Review safety, security, and environmental policies with team members.
  • Ensure all quality requirements are met, including timely completion of reports, checklists, photos, and as-builts.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate policies and project schedules/milestones.
  • Participate in resource planning with construction, project, and fleet managers.
  • Assist Construction Manager with performance evaluations of direct reports.
  • Review and approve daily timesheets in ADP; monitor and minimize unapproved overtime.
  • Track discrepancies between bid and post-award work scope.
  • Coordinate daily work scope with foremen/lead hands on large-scale projects.
  • Manage project labor hours against estimates; report deviations to Project Manager.
  • Verify and coordinate subcontractors via ComplyWorks and manage them on-site.
  • Arrange equipment deliveries and ensure inspections are completed.
  • Identify and communicate scope changes for pricing and client approval.
  • Execute and update the Construction Execution Plan (CEP) as needed; report delays or deviations promptly.
  • Develop and monitor project-specific ground plans as required.
  • Manage GOI/clearance, site LOTO, and site deliveries as needed.
  • Review IFC package prior to mobilization.
  • Confirm and update Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Ensure all crew members have required safety training and orientations.
  • Attend construction readiness meetings.
  • Complete material receiving reports and OS&D paperwork when applicable.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as required.
  • Coordinate and collaborate effectively with the apprenticeship mentor as required.


Responsibilities

Employment Pre-requisites and Requirements
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's license.
