Full Job Description
Summary:

The position will oversee and support the daily activities of Field Maintenance Employees and Contractors for a large marine terminal with truck, rail and pipeline connectivity. This person will ensure all activities support terminal operations and are completed in a safe and timely manner while staying within the terminal's maintenance budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plans, supervises and assigns the work of maintenance employees and contractors.
• Inspects work for completeness and site cleanup.
• Counsels, trains, and develops staff.
• Responsible for performance reviews of all direct reports.
• Implements safe work habits and ensures that company and contract maintenance employees always follow safety policies and standard operating procedures.
• Accountable for regulatory, safety, and budgetary requirements.
• Attends meetings and conference calls as needed.
• Leads toolbox safety meetings necessary to achieve safety goals while communicating changes in company policy, procedures, and objectives to employees.
• Analyzes problems that may arise, finding workable solutions that are practical as well as cost efficient.
• Prepares and supports WBS requirements for maintenance capital and expense projects.
• Ensures safety, cost reduction, and productivity remain priorities in completing work assignments.
• Works with other departments inside and outside of the terminal to solve issues as needed.
• Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Improves operations efficiency and financial profitability through well maintained facilities.
• Performs all assigned computer-based duties in a proficient and timely manner including completing and approving expense reports, CBT (Computer Based Training) and general use of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Assists in the management of all assigned vehicles and DOT fleet

Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
  • HS Diploma or Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years' experience in field operations or maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Experience in maintenance of tanks, piping, pumping, measurement, truck and rail rack and related equipment required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent PC skills, with proficiency with Microsoft products.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to independently proof work for accuracy.
  • Ability to manage time and scheduling to meet appropriate deadlines.
  • Ability to work successfully in stressful situations and manage multiple tasks.
  • General knowledge of OSHA requirements
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in various Company programs and applications including the use of computers and smart devices.

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • 40% Normal office working conditions and 60% of the time spent in the field.
  • Field work includes possible exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as possible extreme weather conditions and loud machinery. Use of appropiate personal protective equipment is required.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to climb storage tanks and ladders, work safely in hazardous environments and the ability to respond to emergency situations as required.
  • Position is subject to 24 hour, 7 days per week on call availability
  • Capable of supervising outdoor maintenance activities in extreme weather.
