Full Job Description
The Engineering Supervisor serves as the bridge between Lead Engineers and Engineering Managers. This role provides both technical and people leadership within an engineering group. The Supervisor performs all the responsibilities of a Lead Engineer while also assuming ownership for the performance, development, and engagement of assigned direct reports through structured oversight and one-on-one meetings. This position represents a key progression step for individuals demonstrating readiness for greater leadership responsibility but not yet at the full managerial level.
Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates decision-making abilities, leads/mentors/coaches other engineers to make sound engineering project decisions, supervises the performance of team members, possesses ability to develop, review, and understand business level KPI's, and provides feedback on KPI improvement opportunities.
  • Liaisons with other groups within the organization to facilitate smooth project workflow.
  • Evaluates project progress and recommends changes to management to achieve objectives/schedule.
  • Development and maintenance of project plans and schedules.
  • Coordination of work activities, prioritization, and planning.
  • Leading daily engineering standup meeting (LDM) in the absence of the engineering manager.
  • Conducts regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports, focusing on performance, development, workload balance, and engagement.
  • Oversee daily engineering execution, ensuring team members meet project scope, quality, and schedule expectations.
  • Supports Engineering Manager in workforce planning, staffing, and performance review processes.
  • Provides coaching, mentorship, and technical guidance to engineers, fostering growth and accountability.
  • Monitors individual workload and project assignments, identifying resource constraints and communicating adjustments to management.
  • Serves as first point of contact for technical or procedural escalation within the team.
  • Supports the Engineering Manager in maintaining team metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and improvement initiatives.
  • Leads internal stand-ups, project reviews, and coordination meetings when delegated by the Engineering Manager.
  • Assists in developing and improving team workflows, documentation, and quality standards.
  • Partners with peers across disciplines to ensure seamless cross-functional project delivery.
