Responsibilities

  • Manage contractors conducting cathodic protection surveys at Terminal facilities and coordinate repair recommendations.
  • Supervise two Corrosion Technicians and analyze annual survey reports for system improvements.
  • Support the Pipeline Integrity Manager with corrosion control assessments and regulatory compliance tasks.
  • Provide corrosion control support during above ground storage tank inspections and audits.
  • Maintain and develop the PCS database for cathodic protection data management and reporting.
  • Develop and update Corrosion Control Procedures and maintain as-built CP documentation.
  • Chair the Coating Committee, maintaining specifications and reviewing coating inspection results.

Job Summary

Manage the corrosion control programs for all Terminals and Pipeline facilities to ensure compliance with internal procedures as well as applicable state and federal regulations. Provide technical supervision of the two Pipeline Corrosion Technicians located in Lake Charles, LA and Luling, TX. Responsible for interpretation of CP data and troubleshooting. Coordinate, oversee, and evaluate the results of contractor cathodic protection surveys at all Terminal facilities and provide recommendations for repairs to associated CP systems as warranted. Responsible for the CP support to the Integrity Management (IM) program for applicable Terminal and Pipeline facilities as required by IM procedures and regulatory compliance. Chairs the coating committee and the business unit subject matter expert.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 yrs. experience OR a minimum of 12 yrs. experience in lieu of degree.

NACE CP Technologist (CP3) certification required.

Computer Skills: Word processing, spreadsheets, power point presentations, familiarity with the internet, American Innovations PCS software training preferred.

Industry Standards: Advanced level of familiarity with industry standards and specifications related to corrosion control, including design, construction, testing, and operations.

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in physical sciences or engineering.

Job Duties

  1. Manage contractors performing CP surveys at all Terminal facilities. Work with Purchasing to select contractors. Work with selected contractors on cost estimates for annual survey projects. Load survey data into PCS software database, evaluate associated survey results, and provide recommendations for needed repairs to the operations managers. Develop scopes of work for recommended repairs, coordinate company and contract resources to execute repairs, and provide inspection and project management for repair projects as needed.
  2. Provide technical supervision of the two Corrosion Technicians assigned to the Pipeline facilities in the Southeast and Central Regions. Review annual survey reports and work with Corrosion Technicians on needed system improvements.
  3. Provide corrosion control and CP support to the Pipeline Integrity Manager as required by IM procedures and regulatory compliance. Responsible to determine and justify corrosion growth rates for pipeline segments that are hydrostatically tested, analyze close interval survey results and may include ILI tool run analysis, data analysis of field digs, and pipeline coating issues. Provide overall corrosion control assessments for all facilities and pipeline risk and preventative mitigative reviews.
  4. Provide corrosion control/CP support to all Above Ground Storage Tank facilities during tank inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain asset integrity. Support operations during corrosion control/CP audits and provide field demonstrations as necessary.
  5. Maintain and continue to develop and improve the PCS database that houses CP data. Bridge and review the monthly rectifier data. Edit route files and/or add test point locations as applicable. Customize or adjust the CP database parameters as needed. Generate ad hoc reports from PCS database as needed. Maintain company Corrosion Control SharePoint site.
  6. Develop and maintain Corrosion Control Procedures and Guidelines. Maintain as-built CP files and drawings for CP projects for all Terminals and Pipeline facilities. Annually review and update the Corrosion Control section of the Operations & Maintenance Manual.
  7. Chair the Terminals and Pipeline Coating Committee and provide leadership as the subject matter expert in developing, maintaining, and updating coating application specifications, approved coating selections, and reviewing triennial coatings inspection results and recommendations. Responsibilities include maintaining coating inspector roster and coordinating the annual meeting.
