Full Job Description
Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Geotechnical/Environmental Engineer to join our team in either Syracuse NY, Arlington VA, or Dallas TX. We are looking for a candidate with strong organizational and team building skills, who feels comfortable with a dynamic workflow.

As part of our Resilience Environment team, you'll help improve quality of life. You will work alongside Senior Scientists, Engineers, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts on various activities in support of diverse utility expansion, environmental assessment, and remediation projects.

Role accountabilities:

Our services encompass a range of responsibilities aimed at geotechnical and environmental support for various clients. You will specialize in providing program support for a diverse portfolio of projects.

You will actively participate in field investigations, sampling activities, and construction oversight. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in fostering effective communication by engaging in face-to-face meetings with contractors, clients, technical teams, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities could include a combination of field and office related tasks and will include occasional travel.

These responsibilities may include:
  • Operation and maintenance oversight for remediation systems
  • Soil and groundwater investigation and sample collection
  • Site characterization and feasibility studies
  • Data compilation, evaluation, and QA/QC
  • Report writing, permitting, cost estimating support
  • Coordination with project managers and senior engineering staff

The successful candidate will be involved in interpreting and evaluating field and analytical data in order to prepare engineering parameters, permit applications, and construction-related documents.

In summary, an ideal candidate for the position would have proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong communication skills, a focus on health and safety, and excellent teambuilding and organizational abilities. These attributes will contribute to their success in the role and enable them to make valuable contributions to projects. Field work will require daily regional business travel.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering
  • 3 years' relevant experience in engineering
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Advanced research, data gathering and analysis skills
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills

Preferred:
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
  • May hold or be working towards advanced degree (M.Eng., MS, MBA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of relevant national standards and codes of practice
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training
  • Proficiency in CADD and Civil 3D
  • Proficiency in GeoStudio, LPile, Prosheet, Shoring Suite, OpenGround
  • Technical design skills or working knowledge preferred in the following categories including sheet pile design, preferred experience in variety of retaining wall structures, slope stability calculations, foundation design including shallow and deep varieties, excavation stability options, and in-situ stabilization and solidification
  • Field experience with geotechnical sampling including Cone Penetrometer Testing, Standard Penetration Testing with split spoons, and other drilling techniques such as macrocore and DPT. Field construction experience, including pile installation, retaining structures installation, excavation oversight, slope stability improvements, and in-situ stabilization and solidification preferred

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $64,152 - $96,228. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
