The Supervisor is responsible for assisting in planning, directing, and coordinating operational and personnel activities to ensure the provision of quality services to meet the needs of those served by their area(s) of responsibility and scope of role. Leadership is provided based on the Mayo Clinic mission, vision, goals, and values. The role includes ongoing collaboration and communication utilizing shared goal setting and decision making with physicians, associate providers, department staff and multidisciplinary team members. The Supervisor will maintain a professional environment and on-going development for themselves (deleted his/her) and staff. The Supervisor applies current leadership and management theories to daily management of team. Assists in the development and implementation of operational plans. In addition, the supervisor must be able to perform the duties of a clinical dietitian, utilizing the Nutrition Care Process as Medical Nutrition Therapy is provided to patients.

Responsible and accountable for department operations, fiscal/financial management, quality, service, environment of care/safety, risk management, and human resource management. The supervisor oversees operations of allied health staff in the outpatient and inpatient settings and serves as a key member of the of the multidisciplinary management team. Communication, organizational and human relation skills are required in addition to decision-making and judgment capabilities. Duties include planning and implementation of policies and systems, staffing and workload management, support of department/division initiatives, institutional projects, and staff recruitment.

Qualifications

BS Degree in Dietetics or Food Nutrition. Superior written and verbal communication, planning and organizational, analytical, problem solving, decision making and team building skills. Possesses thorough knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and maintains clinical skill set/standards of professional practice.

Minimum of five years clinical/technical experience in a hospital/outpatient setting.
Masters Degree preferred. Previous Lead or supervisory experience and/or AP1, AP2 preferred. Knowledge and experience with continuous quality improvement and change management processes preferred. Experience in a multidisciplinary, collaborative setting preferred. Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Certified Dietitian Licensed Dietitian in the State of Minnesota.
