Position Overview:The Supervisor, Analytical Laboratory is responsible for running analytical instruments and supervising a crew of 5+ analysts and technicians. They also perform data review and data reporting, as well as participate in and lead safety and housekeeping efforts, training, and all general laboratory operations. The analytical laboratory team is responsible for the reporting of accurate results to support our in-process sampling and finished product conformance to all customer expectations in a timely manner, as well as supporting research and development efforts.
Schedule:The Supervisor, Analytical Laboratory schedule after training will be Sunday thru Wednesday 12 hours per day, 5:00 pm to 5:00 am. The first week of work entails Monday thru Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm training. The facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year.
Position Responsibilities:- Supervise a crew of 5+ staff members, approving timecards, time off requests, and annual performance reviews.
- Review analytical results and QC data for quality, research any discrepancies, and report any anomalous results to the Analytical Laboratory Superintendent.
- Report data to downstream customers.
- Proficient with analytical techniques and instrumentation including ICP-AES, ICP-MS, XRF, UV-Vis, AA, TOC, Ion Chromatograph, DSC-TGA, titrations, and physical properties analysis.
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
- Assist in tracking and maintaining the chemical reagent inventory.
- Prioritize all analytical work with the Analytical Laboratory Superintendent and communicate with other departments as needed for efficient laboratory operations.
- Actively participate in the safety management programs and adhere to all appropriate laboratory safety and operations procedures. Also comply with all health, environmental, and safety regulations, company policies, processes, and procedures.
- Flexible shifts and hours may be required based on operational needs.
- Maintain safe work practices.
- Complete any other tasks as needed or directed by management.
Basic Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in a Science required, chemistry preferred.
- 5+ years' experience, 10+ years preferred.
- High proficiency in analytical techniques and instrumentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills as a leader.
- Familiarity with computers and database software. Access is a strong plus.
- Valid Driver's License and good driving record required to drive company vehicles on property.
