The Superintendent has primary responsibility for on-site management of site development construction projects, overseeing all field operations from mobilization through project closeout. This role ensures projects are built safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents. This position works closely with the Project Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Plan, schedule, and supervise all on-site construction activities related to site development (mass grading, utilities, roadways, stormwater, paving, landscaping)
- Enforce jobsite safety programs and ensure full compliance with OSHA and company safety policy
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field labor
- Develop and maintain the project's short-interval schedule (2-3 week look-ahead)
- Conduct quality control inspections and ensure conformance with drawings, specs, and permits
- Coordinate with the Project Manager on procurement, RFIs, and change order impacts to the field
- Manage site logistics, laydown areas, and traffic/erosion control plans
- Lead daily toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings
- Maintain daily reports, manpower logs, and progress documentation
- Interface with owners, inspectors, and local jurisdiction officials on-site
- Mentor Assistant Superintendents and field staff
QUALIFICATIONS - 7+ years of experience in site development or civil construction, including field supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of Sitework Operations to include earthwork, blasting, underground utilities (storm, sanitary, water), grading, and paving operations
- Proven ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field a plus
SALARY $120,000 to $150,000
