Full Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Substation Project Manager to join our team at K&A Engineering in Oakbrook, IL. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. Role Expectations:
  • Manage end-to-end delivery of substation projects from start to finish.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate internal engineering teams, external consultants, contractors, and utility partners.
  • Lead project meetings, track progress, and ensure alignment with technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve substation design packages, including one-lines, protection & control, grounding, physical layout, and equipment specifications.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
  • Monitor schedule performance and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Prepare and deliver project status reports, technical documentation, and presentations.
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical issues, permitting challenges, and construction obstacles.

What we're looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in substation engineering, construction, or project management.
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage substation equipment, protection systems, and utility standards.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and complex technical projects.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills

Pay Range $110,000-125,000/year
