  • The subscriptions editor role is focused on connecting our global subscriber base with stories and videos to engage them more deeply, building habits to keep them subscribed, and developing ways to convert new users. To do this, you'll work closely with newsroom beat teams, audience editors, and the marketing and product teams.

The subscriptions editor role is an ideal position for someone with strong news judgment who enjoys thinking strategically about how journalism reaches readers and is energized by collaborating across a fast-moving newsroom.

We'll trust you to:
  • Partner with newsroom, audience and marketing teams to coordinate plans around major news moments, ensuring Bloomberg's journalism reaches subscribers through the right channels at the right time
  • Manage subscriber touchpoints including our email program, one of our most effective channels for bringing our content to subscribers and registered users at scale
  • Develop strategies that build engagement for our video product and maximize its reach across subscriber channels
  • Partner with key marketing and product stakeholders to help shape subscriber-facing experiences across Bloomberg's website and app, including onboarding and other engagement initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to experiment with new approaches informed by subscriber data, behaviors and trends
  • Track and report on the performance of subscriber engagement initiatives, using those insights to refine strategy over time

You'll need to have:
  • At least five years of experience in a digital newsroom
  • Excellent news judgment and attention to detail
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with experience crafting compelling headlines
  • Curiosity, creativity and a willingness to experiment with new ideas
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across multiple teams
  • Comfort working with data and analytics tools to inform editorial and engagement decisions

We'd love to see:
  • Experience with email platforms, CMS tools or audience analytics tools
  • A track record of running experiments (A/B tests, new formats, etc.) to improve reader engagement
  • Familiarity with subscription or membership business models
