Purpose of the role

Desk Analysts cover relevant sectors and credits and watch for news events.  Desk Analysts work with Traders and Salespeople to convey company and market updates internally and externally to clients.  Desk Analysts build financial models for the purpose of forecasting financial performance and evaluating capital structure opportunities.  Desk Anaylsts spend significant time researching relevant companies and their industries to identify emerging trends which will impact subject company performance.  Diligence consists of reading and understanding industry press, company financial reports and documents, expert interviews, and meeting with company management teams.

Accountabilities

  • Maintenance and updating of financial models, as well as client databases accurately.
  • Reports, presentations, and documentation preparation to support sales and trading activities.
  • Monitoring of market data, industry news, company news and assist in the analysis of financial information for trading decisions.
  • Monitoring financials and news flow for particular credits, sectors and general financial news
  • Using your understanding of fundamental credit to work with traders to develop trade ideas
  • Performing fundamental credit analysis on specific credits and developing actionable investment ideas for the trading desk
  • Participating in earnings/company calls, building financial models, and maintaining trading blotters

What will you be doing?

Barclays Capital Inc. seeks Structured Products Credit Analyst in New York, NY (multiple positions available):

  • Underwrite, structure, and execute loans to alternative asset managers across private, liquid, and structured credit including portfolio financings, continuation vehicles, NAV financings, asset-based loans, securitizations, structured repos, and total return swaps, in coordination with senior team members and origination, structuring, and trading teams, including analysis of transaction sizing, pricing, and structural terms.

  • Perform fundamental credit analysis and due diligence on underlying loan and bond obligors within borrower portfolios, including detailed review of company business model, historical and projected financial performance, industry and competitive dynamics, capital structure, enterprise valuation, and qualitative assessment of management.

  • Evaluate collateral eligibility and credit quality across diversified industries, including healthcare, technology, business services, industrials, gaming, and asset management, in accordance with internal underwriting standards and facility documentation.

  • Screen and assess prospective transactions for the deal pipeline by evaluating incoming deal flow, conducting preliminary credit assessments, and preparing written screening

  • memoranda for internal credit and investment committee review.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex financial models using Microsoft Excel to analyze portfolio level cash flows, advance rates, borrowing base calculations, collateral coverage, payment waterfalls, and downside stress and scenario analyses for proposed and existing credit facilities.

  • Prepare detailed credit memoranda, approval packages, and presentation materials using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, summarizing transaction rationale, portfolio analytics, key risks, mitigants, structural protections, and recommended terms for review by senior management and credit committees.

  • Design, implement, and maintain internal analytical and operational processes, including deal pipeline tracking, portfolio monitoring and reporting frameworks, and CRM related workflows using internal and third party platforms (e.g., DealCloud, iLevel), to support origination, underwriting, and ongoing portfolio management activities.

  • Conduct industry and market research on private credit, CLOs, structured finance, leveraged lending, and broader capital markets to inform underwriting standards, portfolio risk management, and identification of new origination opportunities.

  • Monitor market conditions and transaction benchmarks using Bloomberg, Pitchbooks, LCD Comps, CreditSights, LevFin Insights, and other third party data sources to support pricing analysis, relative value assessments, and market commentary.

  • Support ongoing portfolio surveillance by reviewing borrower performance, covenant compliance, collateral performance metrics, and structural triggers, and by assisting with internal reporting and risk escalation as required.

Minimum Salary: $178,402.00 per year

Maximum Salary: $250,000.00 per year
