How Your Role Will Shape Our Success

Walker Consultants is seeking a Restoration Consultant to join our growing Atlanta team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional with experience in structural assessment, repair design, and construction phase services to work on a variety of existing-structure projects and help clients understand, address, and extend the life of their assets.

In this role, you'll investigate existing buildings and structures, identify the causes of deterioration or failure, develop practical repair solutions, and support projects through construction. You'll collaborate closely with experienced engineers and technical professionals while building relationships with clients and helping mentor the next generation of talent.

What You'll Do
  • Perform field investigations, surveys, testing, and assessments of existing buildings and structures to identify and diagnose deficiencies, deterioration, damage, or failures.
  • Evaluate existing conditions and develop practical repair strategies, recommendations, and repair designs.
  • Perform and review condition assessments, appraisals, reports, plans, specifications, and calculations.
  • Analyze technical documents and designs prepared by others and provide recommendations based on your findings.
  • Provide construction phase services, including field observations, project documentation, and coordination with contractors and clients.
  • Monitor project progress, scope, budgets, schedules, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Manage and maintain project documentation using project management software.
  • Coordinate engineers, architects, and technical personnel to successfully deliver projects.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, site visits, and field reviews.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients while helping promote Walker's consulting services.
  • Mentor and support less experienced staff, sharing technical knowledge and helping develop their skills.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support other project and office initiatives as needed.
  • Travel to project sites and client locations as needed.

What You'll Bring
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
Experience & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in structural assessment, forensic engineering, restoration, building envelope, or a related consulting field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration, with the ability to obtain additional state licenses through NCEES.
  • Experience with existing-structure assessments, repair design, and construction phase services.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify the root causes of building deficiencies and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and decision-makers at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
