Full Job Description
The Role

We are seeking a talented Project Engineer for our Construction Engineering practice. You will be involved in:

Pre-Construction Planning - construction method and erection sequence planning, construction schedule development, construction logistics planning, building 4D virtual design and construction digital models.

Construction Engineering Design - structural engineering scoping, analysis and design of modular structures, temporary works, temporary structures, materials handling equipment and installations (e.g. cranes and hoists), and temporary stability analysis of structures being erected. Tasks may also include delegated design for contractors, and site inspections to verify as-installed works.

Structural Steel Connection Design - design of connections ranging from simple shear connections to multiple members framing into single connection points with complex load paths.

You will also assist in the design of structures that are delegated to the contractor. You should ideally have experience in medium-to-large size projects such as office buildings, retail centers, healthcare facilities, education and research buildings, cultural and public assembly buildings, sports and entertainment facilities, transport infrastructure including airports and rail projects, and industrial/manufacturing warehouses and facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Structural analysis and design, with emphasis on detailing of temporary works, materials handling equipment, and/or steel connections.
  • Responsible for providing direction, coordination, planning, integration and completion of engineering for projects under any of TT's three Construction Engineering service offerings - Pre-Construction Innovation (PCI), Advanced Project Delivery (APD) and Construction Support Services (CSS).
  • Coordination of design and detail work with in-house engineering staff, Tekla modelers, as well as other design professionals.
  • Manage project design and deliverables as well as other design team members, supervise the work of engineers and modelers, and direct project staff in preparing contract documents such as drawings and specifications.
  • Communication with clients to understand the project requirements.
  • Plan and formulate project delivery programs including meeting QAQC requirements, and scheduling and organizing project staff to meet project delivery requirements.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or an equivalent field required.
  • 4+ years of experience delivering technical engineering design for complex projects, including at least 2 years of experience in steel connection design and/or construction engineering design.
  • Working knowledge of current industry software such as SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, Risa3-D, and PCA Software.
  • Basic knowledge of Autodesk products including Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Medium to high level of skill in MS Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative team-oriented approach.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or SE license, or ability to obtain licensure.
  • Knowledge of Tekla Structures is desired but not required.
  • Knowledge of Synchro 4D is desired but not required.
  • Experience with optimization coding/scripting using Grasshopper or Python is desired but not required.


Compensation
The rate for this position generally is $96,000 - $125,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
