We are seeking a
Structural Engineer Associate to support LAUSD's Facilities Services Division, Maintenance & Operations (M&O) - A&E Services team. This is a great opportunity for a structural engineering professional who is interested in working on meaningful public-sector facilities projects and contributing to the design, construction, maintenance, and improvement of school facilities throughout Los Angeles.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare, analyze, and review structural design plans, specifications, estimates, and technical reports.
- Review structural plans, specifications, design calculations, and construction documents.
- Assist with structural design for foundations, floors, walls, roofs, and other major building components.
- Prepare conceptual and detailed cost estimates and other reports supporting construction and maintenance projects.
- Review structural work for compliance with applicable standards, constructability, completeness, and accuracy.
- Conduct site investigations and prepare scoping reports and recommendations.
- Provide structural recommendations to contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
- Review soils data and other project information and provide recommendations related to foundation design.
- Support structural engineering consultants and design teams throughout project development and construction.
RequirementsRequired:- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a specialization/coursework in Structural Engineering.
- At least 3 years of full-time, paid professional structural engineering experience.
- Experience with BlueBeam, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Knowledge of DSA and California school building construction code.
Preferred:- Experience with school building construction or educational facilities.
- California Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
