Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a Structural (Bridge) Program Manager for its Boston, MA office.  The team player we seek must have a BS/MS degree in Structural Engineering and 10+ years of experience delivering MassDOT, MBTA, Massport and municipal projects as a project engineer and project manager.  Experience with current state of practice for design-build projects coupled with accelerated bridge construction techniques are preferred.

 

The successful candidate will lead and manage the design of simple and complex bridges (primarily of steel and concrete construction) and a variety of transportation related structures (retaining walls, culverts, sign structures and other miscellaneous structures) using applicable software. Bridge design work encompasses new and replacement bridges, bridge widening, and bridge rehabilitation.

 

The candidate will be responsible for and complete all phases of structural project development including planning, scheduling, inspection, analysis, design, development of contract plans, cost estimates, and technical specifications and reports. Successfully leading a team of structural engineers and drafters as well as coordinating with other project disciplines and clients will be required to complete assignments. The individual should also be familiar with state, federal and municipal codes and standards. The ability to interact well with clients, contractors, client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and marketing teams is essential.

  • Plans and coordinates the work.
  • Manages subconsultants.
  • Coordinates with NYC, NYS and Federal government agencies.
  • Prepares and takes responsibility for scope, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Assists and champions transportation proposals to provide professional services.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • 20+ years of experience in transportation, highway, and street design, or closely related engineering 
  • Bachelor's degree (B. S., or B.A.) in Civil Engineering and a minimum of five (5) years related experience in general civil engineering with an emphasis on highway/roadway design, Complete Streets, as well as stormwater management/watershed analysis.
  • MA Professional Engineer (P.E.) required
  • Understanding of civil engineering principles with experience in highway/roadway engineering, site grading, drainage and utility design, stormwater management, maintenance, and protection of traffic (MPT).
  • Experience with Massachusetts (city, state, and local) agencies such as MassDOT, Massport, MBTA, DCR is a plus.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical drawings and identifying discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
  • Knowledge of FHWA MUTCD, AASHTO, MassDOT and MBTA standards.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D required.
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain accuracy while handling multiple assignments in a dynamic company environment.
  • Driving is a requirement of the position.  A clean driving record is required.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring staff.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $171,938 to $221,063 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for Boston, MA only.
