Job Description Summary
The Strategic Sourcing Leader - NPI is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that support the successful launch of new products from concept through commercialization. This role partners closely with Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Operations, and Suppliers to ensure component availability, cost competitiveness, supply continuity, and scalability throughout the product development lifecycle.

The leader drives supplier selection, risk assessment, contract negotiations, and should-cost analysis while aligning sourcing decisions with business objectives, quality requirements, and regulatory standards. The position plays a critical role in achieving program milestones by proactively managing supply chain risks and identifying opportunities for cost reduction, value engineering, and supplier innovation.

Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategic sourcing plans for all NPI programs, aligning with OEC Medical Systems' product roadmaps and business objectives.
  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and selection of new suppliers for critical NPI components and services, conducting thorough risk assessments and due diligence.
  • Negotiate favorable terms, conditions, and pricing with suppliers, establishing robust contracts that support NPI timelines and cost targets.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams throughout the NPI lifecycle to ensure seamless integration of supplier capabilities and materials.
  • Manage supplier relationships, driving performance improvement, innovation, and risk mitigation for NPI-related suppliers.
  • Implement early supplier involvement programs to leverage supplier expertise in design for manufacturability and cost optimization.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for NPI sourcing activities, reporting on progress and identifying areas for continuous improvement.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, technological advancements, and supplier capabilities within the medical device industry.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives and value engineering activities for NPI components and sub-assemblies.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in strategic sourcing, or procurement with a significant focus on New Product Introduction (NPI) within a highly regulated industry, preferably medical devices OR GEHC OMLP grad.
  • Experience with successful supplier identification, negotiation, and management for complex NPI projects.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external partners.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic sourcing plans that deliver measurable results.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and e-sourcing tools.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data to make informed decisions.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required. (10-20%)
